With a number of newspapers changing their look recently I have decided to review a newspaper which I have read regularly for the past five years or so since I was 18. Along with newspapers like the independent, the times, the mirror and others the Daily Sport has recently had somewhat of a makeover after David Sullivan and David Gold sold the newspaper to new owners and with the new editor-in-chief, Barry McIlheney and Former Loaded editor James Brown the Paper has had a new look of late but they have now gone back to the more well known style which was used for years.
The Daily Sport was launched in 1991 six years after the Sunday Sport had been released it was published by Sport Newspapers, owned by pornographer and Birmingham City FC co-owner David Sullivan. The newspaper is the youngest of all the national newspapers in the United Kingdom. The paper has launched the career of some of the biggest glamour models including the likes of Louise Glover, Lindsey Dawn McKenzie and many others.
The Daily Sport is often talked about by readers of other newspapers of having no news in it. For me that is not the case at all and I seem to find stories appearing in other papers a couple of days after the Daily Sport have covered the story. Granted their news coverage isnt the most in depth but I watch Sky News for my daily fix of in depth news.
With the new look of the newspaper a lot of things have stayed very similar but the layout of the text looks quite similar to the new style of ex broadsheets like The Times and Independent but still keeping the same kind of layout that Daily Sport is known for. every section is well laid out in terms of seperation from the rest and overall the layout is still very good.
One of the best showbiz columns in magazines or newspapers in the United Kingdom. They are very quick with exclusives and often get some celebrity interviews with famous Daily Sport fans. I have often seen the showbiz stories in papers like Daily Star and The Sun a couple of days after I had read it in Daily Sport. Another good thing about the newspaper.
**Students Talk Sex**
This is a regular feature which has an interview with two female students who talk about their sex lives. They get paid £50 for their interview and are shown in a picture usually in a pub where they are interviewed. This can be quite juicy as they delve deep into their sex lives. A good section which shows that it's not just men who read the Daily Sport.
This is of more of a sexual nature than most agony aunt columns and features letters from readers who want advice on sex and relationship problems. The agony aunts are a selected panel of page three models and they do tend to give out good advice most of the time and I enjoy reading the column as there can be some interesting stories.
This newspaper has a particularly good sports news section and they are usually one of the first to report transfer gossip that becomes a new signing. Football is of course the main sport reported on here but the paper also has a good spread of sports with good information regarding boxing and horse racing.
This is a very liberal newspaper that doesnt pull any punches when it comes to the right to free speech. More and more newspapers are becoming much more liberal as the country is generally getting a lot more liberal as a whole. It also has a great sports section especially with Football.
With the new look the Newspapers sales have experienced a slump and another negative point about the paper is that they often copy a load of stuff everyday which can be annoying. these are things like adverts for things like mobile ringtones etc. This doesnt affect most of the Daily Sport.
This is a great newspaper in my opinion and is a great read for mostly younger people. There are more and more female readers than a few years ago and this shows that women are becoming more and more sexually liberal and are up for it like men without having the negative monikers that are handed out.
