Disability Now I don not know how many of you out there are aware that they are many magazines out there that voices for the needs of disabled people, their facilities and carers. This has to be in the premier league of all these magazines. Before going to university to study disability studies I would never of know about this magazine, unless an inspiring tutor got hold of it and the whole class and myself were hooked!! This magazine can be used for assignments as it keeps you up to date of disability rights and the progress and struggles of the disability movement. Details of the magazine that you might want to know. Title: - Disability now- the campaigning newspaper that keeps you in the picture. Editor: - Mary Wilkinson Published by: - SCOPE Cost: - £18 per year or £35 per 2 years. This magazine id FREE to those people that are receiving a means tested benefit. This magazine is also available via e-mail and is available in many formats. It is published on a monthly basis. Right back to the magazine!! There are many occurring regular monthly features to this magazine. These include:- Sections that are dedicated to the arts. These include films, exhibitions, festivals and television, which are for and include disabled people. There is a section dedicated to the new and up coming books that are related to disability and disability rights. This section is a must for those students out there!!!!! An agony aunt column called Dear Ann. Information on what is on in the disability world, including exhibitions and seminars. And a Job section. Throughout this magazine there are adverts for mobility aids and specialist equipment. There is also a comprehensive section on vehicles that are accessible for people who are wheelchair users. This magazine is a must. I give this 10 out of 10. H
