If you live in the West Midlands, and have a keen intrest in one or other of the Birmingham football teams, then this is the paper for you. I have recently gotten into it, and enjoy reading the articles that are news related as well as the sports.

This is the official newspaper of Aston Villa, so maybe I have a slight bias in that kind of area, but it is nice to see a paper with such a high-quality regional sports section. The major sports stories, you can read on the internet, Ceefax, or even a national press, but for the in-depth local exclusives, this is top banana.

It is not exactly a tabloid, more of a broad sheet that is tabloid sized... Ie the standard is higher than a tabloid, and it is less "scandal-based"... however, it is slightly more informal that the likes of the guardian, telegraph, and observer.

It's a friendly paper with lots of personality, and the news speed is excellent. When you go to a Villa game, leave the stadium at 4.45pm, when the game ends, and are back in New Street station by 5.15pm at best, they already have the article from that day's match on the stands.

I can see me buying a lot of copies this year, and at 30p a go, I can afford to!
