Advantages: Quality writing

Disadvantages: Heavily biased, Supports people who break the law (illegal immigrantion)

I suppose if you are living in the comfort of Hampstead, the idea of having the tiny island we live on flooded with foreigners sounds good. Therefore I'm not surprised at the Guardian championing the cause of illegal immigrants. They are not, by definition, asylum seekers, as according to international law, an asylum seeker is obliged - and should be happy to - take residence in the first 'safe' country he enters.

Guardian readers support illegal immigration, because it makes them feel good while enjoying their dinner parties in Hampstead and Golder's Green. After all, they never have to actually meet any underclass foreigners, as they are not flooding into middle-class areas. Furthermore, it helps middle-class people because they can employ these illegal immigrants in their restaurants and pay them below the minimum wage. The Guardian itself had an article asking whether its readers, who live in plush houses and send their kids to public schools, are hypocritical. No need to answer. The evidence speaks for itself.

Hmm, I read The Guardian and I teach English to asylum seekers. I live in Newcastle as well, though maybe I'm just an exception....
I'd hazard a guess that you've a) never read the newspaper and b) you've never actually met an asylum seeker outside of the scare stories in The Sun.
Depressing.
