Few may of heard of it, and even fewer buy it nowadays, outside of London council coffeeshops, but there is another national daily news paper among the big nine.

The Morning star, a communist socialist daily published since 1930 exists largely through reader contributions, and the odd car boot sale, and its site is as low tech as you expect (web site that is). However. it is still more entertaining than the daily star.
