Advantages: Great articles, reviews and web guides
Disadvantages: too much sporty stuff
No doubt about it, the net magazine is by far the best on the shelf. This mag has it all.
Each month there are essential web guides are included with features on certain categories. These are well set out and interesting to read. I have come across numerous websites I would have otherwise overlooked without this magazine.
News is also featured with up to date titbits from the ever changing e-business world. Find out which isp is currently best and which one has slumped to the ground and crawled away from existance leaving many angry users behind.
Net charts are also a firm favourite with me. The net features all sorts of charts including most bizarre search requests where a search was made for "Where can I find a chicken sexer" and "Who can arrange camel treks around London". Another interesting chart includes requests made to Tesco Direct van drivers, such as "Can you change a lightbulb for me?" and "Would you like to join me for dinner?"
Also the magazine features guides for various tasks each month. Mainly getting online and things like that but could be usefull I suppose to new users. Mainly though this mag caters to the seasoned net user.
New technology is featured as well as games but these aren't the focus. The net is mostly a web guide with a letters page and additional articles.
The only peeve I have is that there seems to be a bit too much attention paid to sport. I find that very tiresome but I suppose they have to cater to everyone.
If you haven't tried this magazine then I suggest you do at first opportunity. This is one not to be missed and at 2.50 its not too steep and doesnt usually come with disks either.
