Advantages: Exclusives, free blueray demo

Disadvantages: Expensive

As there hasn't been any recent updates or reviews on this magazine, I thought I'd add my opinion on how this mag covers the new and next gen modern gaming world.

The Official Playstation Magazine (OPM) is one of several available magazine which covers all things playstation, not only games but also devices, HD issues and how the playstation is measuring up to other consoles. It normally comes packaged in a plastic covering which tells the consumer what is featured inside that issue and the free gift inside that edition. These can range from a poster to a cheats book to a walk through guide etc and nowadays comes also with a free blueray demo disk to play the latest developed games etc.

So what is the writing like? It's similar really to many other game magazines in the way it writes on games. Perhaps a tad more serious and less opinionated as it is deemed "official." However, it is rarely biased and takes every game as they are and at most times will give a fair score. There are times though when you think, how did that game ever get that score? etc.

So the mag covers ps3 which probs makes up about 60% of the mag, PSP making up about 10% and ps2 another 10% approx, and normally gets smaller for ps2 each time due to little games being released. The rest of the mag is score tables, mail, advertising and reviews on ps products. So the make-up is similar to other mags. The mag also has exclusives for the official mag only on the latest games etc.

It is available at almost any paper or mag store, and nowadays costs 5.99 pounds. So is it worth it? 13 issues are released a year and you can suscribe to get some money off, however there are other similar ps3 mags out there for around 2 or 3 pounds less. It depends really if you enjoy their style of writing and think if it's worth to pay the extra. In my opinion it is pretty dear for what it offers, but you do get a free blueray demo which makes it seem the better. So it's one to be left up to you.

Summary: A good read but perhaps other mags are better
