If you are a Gay teenager, and your life does NOT revolve(yet) around 'the scene', being able to perchase the 'Pink paper' from W.H.Smiths could be an advantage. If you are someone in need of Gay information, and you do not feel confident enough to anounce this fact to everyone in the newsagents, buying the 'Pink Paper' could be a problem. In short offering this paper FREE at Gay venues does not open up readership to those in the closet, obtaining the publication at all, is anouncing to someone that you are interested in things other than Heterasexual. The once free gay newspaper is no more. Well, it still exists, but now you have to pay for it! You will no longer only find your Pink in your local gay pub or club or youth group but you can now buy it form your local newsagent, either Smiths or just the local shop. This has some great benefits as it means that people who live in rural areas or don't venture to the gay scene can get a copy and find out what's happening in the world surrounding gay issues. That bad news is that we actually have to pay for it now. It's reduced in size, it actually looks like a copy of the Big Issue, and the price is so expensive at £1.80 or something like ...

If you have never seen this publication, you might think that a qualification of a 'gay publication' is that it must show either naked bodies, list endless 0898 numbers, or be a fashion magazine with mainly men posing. This is where this publication is different, and at last. It has gay related news stories, a gay editorial, a gay letter page, a gay cartoonist, and gay related ads (but mainly not of the porn type) Its the kind of paper you could read on a train and be proud to be gay and not feel like a pervert. Its a great read, although if you live in an area without a gay venue, it could be difficult getting hold of a copy as it is a ...
