The Stage newspaper has been around now for over 100 years - I myself have only been buying it for the last ten. I used to love the stage, and it was always considered to be the one thing any budding artiste should buy on a regular basis. Whether you're an actor, a singer, a musician, a topless dancer, a look-a-likee, there was always something of interest. Now it's one of those papers that I buy if I happen to think about it - which isn't very often. The job section, which used to be packed of auditions for actors, is now more or less dedicated to backstage/front of house staff for theatres, 6' tall muscular male ... Read the complete review

The Stage - or as it is known The Stage and Television Today is one of the main trade newspapers for the industry. It has been around for over a century- so it must be getting something right. I went to Drama college for two years and every student bought it every week- to be honest I am not sure it was always for the content but as young students aiming to be in the industry -it felt good to be seen with it. It is what it says on the box- you will get all the up to date industry news and will often learn about new productions ahead of when you would learn in the mainstream media. You can find reviews of across country productions. On a sadder note you will be able to ... Read the complete review

I am very interested in music and acting being within amateur productions and this paper has been the best thing i have bought. Not only does the paper give you audtions for up and coming musicals it also gives advice from how to sing and how contact the right agent to where to start looking for work and how to act in an audtion. Not only is it for actors and singers you can get many other jobs for example, the website (www.thestage.co.uk) is great as you can get audtions and interviews at the click of a mouse for many things, e.g. acting, musciains, backstage, front of house staff even waiters. The best way to subscribe to this paper is through the website ... Read the complete review

I guess The Stage is a pretty specialised newspaper, but you don't need to actually be a thesp to enjoy it. It's full title is The Stage and Television Today and it reports on all the news concerning the theatre and broadcasting. It is aimed at those involved in showbiz, but I know lots of people who read it because they love the theatre. A lot of the paper is concerned with wage disputes/strikes/business matters/backstage stuff which is really only of interest to the professional. There are also reviews, interviews and production news though. I don't buy this every week, only when a new play I want to see/starring a fave actor opens. I do also occasionally ... I like this I think it is really good and it is a very good idea. I use it all the time and I think that you should get it too. I like this because it works really well, and if you get it you would use it all the time too. I really think that you should go out and buy this now, because you will not know what you are missing unless you buy this. So get off your chair go to the shops and buy it now. ...
