Advantages: A must-buy for actors, interesting if you adore the theatre

Disadvantages: Quite hard to get hold of a copy

I guess The Stage is a pretty specialised newspaper, but you don't need to actually be a thesp to enjoy it. It's full title is The Stage and Television Today and it reports on all the news concerning the theatre and broadcasting. It is aimed at those involved in showbiz, but I know lots of people who read it because they love the theatre. A lot of the paper is concerned with wage disputes/strikes/business matters/backstage stuff which is really only of interest to the professional. There are also reviews, interviews and production news though. I don't buy this every week, only when a new play I want to see/starring a fave actor opens. I do also occasionally buy it to see what plays are about to go into production. There is a TV section in the paper, but it is quite small. This is not a paper for people who are 'quite' interested in the entertainment world, it's really only for professionals and theatre addicts. The one criticism I have against The Stage is that it is hard to get. The only shop near me that sells it is WHSmiths, but there only seem to get in a couple of copies. It comes out on Thursday and if you go in to the shop on Thursday afternoon you'll be out of luck.
