Most pages tend to have at least 2 stories on them unless it is a big story then that can usually be spread across 2 pages. I tend to find many stories of interest and the paper reports on a lot more than the leading papers will do however many arguments in the paper are based more on opinion rather than fact which drags the paper down a bit. The sport pages tend to focus mainly on football and horse racing but important stories in most othe...more

Premium Review The Sun: I want my Chippy Tea (<3 Lancashire hotpots) (654 words)
by - written on 28/01/08 (Very useful, 270 readings)
Rating:

Don't we all love chips, greasy artery filling fatty chips full to the brim with the stuff that'll kill us eventually, and if not it'll make us so fat that we'll want to kill ourselves after just 1 more portion of their delectable taste, their almost orgasmic feeling in your mouth. Well you know what all chip shops need right, other than potatoes, suasages, fish and curry...paper. Well it's not a wonder that when I last purchased chips from my local chip shop I saw three letters at the top of the page (near the date and page number) that struck me as somewhat a reason for the specific paper to be produced. "SUN"...finally a use for this waste of ink and ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Burn The Bun (1810 words)
by - written on 03/07/01 (Very useful, 296 readings)
Rating:

The Sun (a.k.a. the “old Currant Bun”) is the most popular tabloid newspaper in this country, and it is proud to consider itself the voice of the ‘common man’. Indeed, it boasts of being “Britain’s most influential newspaper”. It’s reporting style is cheeky, cheerful, and notoriously short on news. Even more notoriously, the third page always boasts a pretty young lady, in her late teens or early twenties, baring her breasts for the delectation of the reader. I don’t have the statistics, but I presume the readership is largely male. Historically I’ve never thought much of The Sun, but I did read it daily in the ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review The Sun: A lighthearted look at the news (1247 words)
by - written on 26/03/01 (Very useful, 61 readings)
Rating:

3 years ago I would never have even picked up a copy of the Sun. Tabloid trash, I would have screamed! I used to digest broadsheets such as the Times, the Guardian AND the Independent as I commuted to school on 2 trains, and it was thoroughly recommended to read broadsheets as part of my Business A-level. However one sweet day I got my high grades and my university place, and I suddenly got bored of the heavy monotonous tone of news reportage that I found with my regular, The Times. And one day I picked up a copy of the Sun and have never gone back. So why did I do it? Well the primary reason was that the Sun was 30p and the Times 35p and that day I ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The Sun is something to wrap your chips in (477 words)
by - written on 11/10/09 (Very useful, 15 readings)
Rating:

I think everyone knows what to expect when they buy the Sun. If you are looking for a newspapers in the genuine sense of the word then don't pick up this newspaper if on the other hand you are looking for something bite sized which is very easy to digest and will probably fit into the same space of time it takes to eat your cereals then look no further. As you can tell from this intro, I am not a fan of this newspaper but they would of course say they are simply catering to a market. This is true and strictly speaking I don't hate this newspaper but feel that if something is what is deemed a newspaper, then what chance does the reader have of making an ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The Sun: Trashy Tabloid or Entertaining News? (967 words)
by - written on 14/09/09 (Very useful, 68 readings)
Rating:

We've always bought a daily newspaper and it's been The Sun since I can remember. It may be a bit tacky in the sense that it's a tabloid paper which features celebrity gossip as front page news more often than important headlines, but it's an easy read, especially if you tend to just skim through papers. The Sun is the highest circulating rates for an English paper in the world and sells around £2,986,000 copies a day (credit goes to Wikipedia for that factoid). Apparently it has almost 8 million readers, putting into perspective just how popular this paper is. Being part of Murdoch's News Corp, this is a very well-known tabloid paper and has won ...  Read the complete review
