In-your-face frank, down to earth reporting with a forte for exposes, headlines to shock, and daring picures! It has a character of its very attracts millions of readers everyday, much to the annoyance of many of the 'better-read' public..
Amazes me! many people seriously hate this daily, and are intent on criticising anyone whom dares to read it - a comic? toilet-paper? etc When it is the most well read british daily paper and can I say 'enjoyed'? newspaper in this country surely this warrants some respect? Intellectual reasoning and protocol aside this paper by its open, friendly and easy to read articles and stories does make it a national favourite.
Not everyone want a serious read, or indepth enlightening articles with which to broaden their intellectual scope or widen their horizons, many people myself included are happy to partake in an easy read per se, without the need for more complicated material. Whether this is for its famed football and soccer pages, its excellent (& free T.V. Guide)its range of puzzles and crosswords, agony aunt page or the daily insight into what is happening - news wise there is something for everyone.
I personally have found some very good offers in the Sun - I bought my HP computer from an ad. there at an attractive price and have booked countless Haven holidays through the paper @ £9.50, which were brilliant buys.
The main problem is that a lot of people have this in-grown distaste of the Sun and fail to appreciate its good points - such as its regular good offers. Yes, other daily newspapers like the Observor and Guardian can offer a more stimulating and intellectual read, but not everyone is looking for this, or indeed have the time to spend pl;oughing through reeems of articles in the day and people should not be criticised for their choice in reading, everyman to his own I say and leave well alone!!
