Advantages: Good sports writing team

Disadvantages: Not alot of real news, distort news stories

The Sun, owned by the Murdoch epire, is the most popular newspaper in the United Kingdom, with the highest number readers and print numbers. The Sun is a tabloid newspaper, that has very little in actually news, but focuses on sensationalism, that quite often gets the newspaper into trouble.

The Sun is the first print media that I started to read, as this was the newpaper that my family read. One of the main reason that I read the paper is for the sport section, as The Sun has one of the best sport writing teams. As The Sun very often get exclusive sports news before any other news media. The only problem that I now find with this is that, although the story may be classed as an exclusive, it may already have been in either the TV news or on the internet the night before.

This is a criticism that can be made of the The Sun, in that all the news within the paper, is yesterdays news; but this cannot be aimed just at The Sun but also at all print media, and one of the reasons that it is seen as out of date.

One of the problems that I have foudn with this newspaper, is that as I have moved on in my education, what I have found is that the newspaper is short on actual and real new. As what it actually concentrates on is "celebrity" gosip, while it may interesting to read, what I actually want to read is real news.

What I have also noticed from the way that The Sun reports news is the way that the story is distorted by the journalist who is writing the article. Such an example is Mental Health issue, as I studied Mental Health Law, as part of my degree. As what actually happens is that the story is no where near the truth, and what actually happens is it stigmtises a person with mental health problems.

What I have felt is that, while the newpaper may have been good, I no longer find it of any use for what I need a newpaper for, to report, unbaised stories. The only reason that I now read the newpaper is for the sport section.

Summary: Ok as a quick read if nothing else
