Advantages: The writing (at times)
Disadvantages: The lies
Possibly one of the most well known national newspapers in this country, The Sun is a massively popular tabloid, read by millions daily. Compared to its counterparts, such as The Guardian and The Independent, this newspaper is more of a cultural paper, featuring stories on celebrities, and current major incidents around the world, often putting their own twist on things. This is the main reason why, most of the things you read in The Sun, shouldn't be believed at all.
Over the years, The Sun has grown on a grand scale, now available in numerous different countries. Personally, I prefer News of The World, but do read this newspaper from time to time. As far as the celebrity features go, I love this, they just don't have a personal life anymore, but when you choose to be in the public eye, what do you expect.
I would have to say that one of the main advantages this paper has is its sports section. To me, it is the best of any newspaper, often dedicating up to 20 pages to sport, in particular football, always at the back of the paper. The writings is brilliant, with a little bias, but what do you expect of a sports columnist. However, saying this, a major disadvantage is the bias which is spun on real life stories, sometimes making them out to be more than they actually are. For example, when the Swine Flu outbreak made headlines, is was made out to be this deadly disease which would wipe out the world, but now, I haven't read a story on it for a while. This newspaper has often been took to court many times over the stories it writes about, usually about celebrities, and the false tellings they write about.
Even so, I still read this newspaper, and would recommend to it to my friends, and everyone reading this review. If I had to recommend an issue in particular, it would be the Sunday edition which is thicker, and features more stories and articles. Really is some, and I only mean some, of the best writing in the industry, and for only around 35p on average, a little more expensive on a Sunday, it is a real bargain. Just because you read this newspaper, doesn't mean that you cant read others, and the funny thing is, different newspaper will often report different things on the same story. I like to compare, you should try it some time.
You can buy The Sun from almost any news outlets stores, and the price will almost always be the same. I am not sure whether or not supermarkets sell it for cheaper, but would be unlikely. It has become a tradition of mine to go out on a Sunday morning and buy a collection of newspapers, The Sun being one of them. It is a great read, sometimes anyway.
The Sun also has a website which you can log onto to catch up on current issues both in the real world and the showbiz world. I find it especially good when you cant get yours hands on a copy (my local newsagent quickly runs out it is that popular), as you can read the same articles on the website.
Summary: Good newspaper
