The Sun Newspaper
I rarely buy newspapers nowadays. Instead I usually just get my fix of news from the internet for free. However there are some occasions where a newspaper comes in handy such as a bus ride or having lunch in the car. I don't always buy the sun but as its only 20 pence it's hard to pass buy if you want something to read for a few minutes.
What is the sun?
The sun is one of the UK's tabloid papers. It's sometimes called a red top newspaper. It currently retails at 20pence and currently it sells just under 3 million copies a day. The sun is famous for its headlines and one line puns. Some of these can be assuming to some or offensive to others. Its also famous for its page 3 models which are unsurprisingly featured on page 3.
My opinion
The sun is just ok. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy and I certainly wouldn't read it every day. The stories are written in a very basic language and often do go very deep into the facts of the story, Instead they prefer to concentrate on awful stories such as 16 pages dedicated to big brother and its this along with many other things that put me off buying the sun. There is an Irish version of the sun and where available I will buy it instead of the English version. It seems a bit more down to earth and had much more interesting stories.
Typically I only buy the sun to kill time if I am waiting on someone or have to get a bus/train. It's the sort of paper that I buy and should I only read 6 pages and then have to leave it behind I won't be annoyed. If you had to you could probably scan read this paper in less that ten mins and you would have got the main theme of most of their stories.
Summary: Too much crap stories
