Advantages: Still trying to think of one...
Disadvantages: No worthwhile news content.
Looking for news? Anxious to catch up on the events currently defining the world? Then the Sun newspaper is not for you. Waking on a typical day to find the planet ravaged by war and natural disaster, and the country ravaged by Tony Blair and his band of legalised robbers, the type of headline you're most likely to find screaming out at you from the Sun is 'Liz splits from Hugh!' Big deal! With the exception of Liz and Hugh, I really can't imagine who cares. Apart from having very little in the way of news, the Sun also seems uncertain at times which side it wants to come down on. For instance, they recently featured an article where one of their journalists claimed that unrealistic media images of women encourage teenage girls to starve themselves. Then just a few pages on they showed a slender cartoon heroine standing on a set of scales complaining that her diet was going badly! Life for the manipulated and uninformed Sun reader isn't all bad however. If their agony aunt is to be believed, the only problems they suffer from are sexual! So if you're after a quality newspaper, look elsewhere, but if all you need is something to line the drawers with or you're out of toilet paper, in the words of The Stranglers, there's always The Sun...

- 25/04/01 I like reading the sun and not because of the storys as they are not factual but I enjoy reading the film reviews and celeb section cos some rumours are true and they keep you up to date with album releases etc which are also good. A good Op though |
