Advantages: Funny, Not as boring as some of the broadsheets
Disadvantages: Snob value, Lack of news, Very biased
The problem with the Sun is in its deifinition as a NEWSpaper. If it was called a 'GOSSIP AND RUMOURS WHICH ARE OFTEN UNTRUE'paper, that'd be fine. The Sun is definately aimed at those who don't want to wade through 5000 word essays that you might find in the Times, however, there needs to be a compromise! Often the Sun's newscoverage is used to fill in the gaps not filled with scandel, competitions, gossip and sparsely clad women. I have no problem with people buying the Sun, and I think those who look down on people who read it need to be more tolerant. If you want a bit of a laugh, and something that won't strain your brain- the Sun's for you. However, just remember that- -Rumours aren't really news -The Sun seems to make it it's job to be as biased as possible NOw I know that opinion will provoke some fairly aggressive comments, so fire away... :-)

- 05/07/01 i agree 100% with what you're saying 'spacelamb'- but I was just trying to take on board other's viewpoints. The Sun can be very manipulative... |

- 05/07/01 Not aggressive comments, but the Sun isn't just 'a laugh' - it's totally irresponsible. You can't print speculation as though it is fact, especially when your readership is largely ill-educated. And before you accuse me of being a snob look at last year's paedophile incident. A gang of people terrorised a PAEDIATRICIAN and his family after reading what the Sun had printed. |
