I really don't understand how so many people can read this paper daily! It is the most blatant piece of trash I have ever come across. What really annoys me is that the xenophobic, sexist and racist writing is rarely the opinion of the writers but just an attempt to sell more papers by making impressionable readers insecure.
No, actually what REALLY annoys me is the hypocrisy. I remember one paper which led with a story about a politician using a sexist phrase. In the "The Sun Says" section (as if anyone gives a flying f*** what they say) they claimed that it was disgusting and demeaning to women. Just guess what was on page 3. Topless "Jakki" who apparently feels ecstatic at holding a python in a vaguely suggestive way. No, that's not sexist or demeaning at all. For God's sake, am I the only person who can see this hypocrisy? More recently, when French drivers started to blockade routes, it attacked them for ruining British holidays. Guess what? Two days later, when it sensed public opinion might want cheaper fuel (along with cheaper cigarettes alcohol and taxes while demanding more public spending), it urged readers to act like hooligans and screw the country over! What changed? The possibility of profits.
The sad fact is that the majority of readers think "Yeah the Sun's right, those Krauts are trying to ruin Britain again" or "Yeah, those meddling Frogs hate us Brits 'cos they're racist". It is unbelievable that so many people in an advanced country can be so simple and unquestioning. In my opinion, Britain would be improved so much just by shutting down the Sun, or at least explaining to the public exactly how hypocritical they are.
Please boycott this racist and hypocritical trash. Britain will thank you for it.
