The Sunday Mirror like its sister paper The Mirror published every other day has two goals firstly to inform the readership of the news and the second is to entertain. There is a question of balance here and it has to be said that entertaining part wins out. To be realistic anyone with more than a passing interest in news, current affairs and politics are not going to have the Sunday Mirror as their first choice newspaper. The Mirror is a mile ahead of the other tabloids. Certainly, it shows political bias, but no worse than The Sun. BUT if you open up a copy of The Mirror tomorrow you will see serious stories reported on by serious journalists. In comparison, open up The Sun or The Star and you will see a plain woman with her unattractive breasts hanging out and, normally, a story on how Bill from Weymouth got stuck on the motorway for two hours because there was a tortoise in front of his truck. The collapse of the high-profile trial of Leeds United player's Lee Bowyer and Jonathon Woodgate this week serves as a stark reminder to the dangers of press intrusion. The pair were facing serious assault charges against a 19-year-old Asian student Sarfraz Najeib, who was beaten unconscious in a vicious street attack. The Sunday Mirror is the weekend version of the Mirror paper. It is similar in format however has more article to read and more interviews. I always buy it for three main reasons; it is cheap at one pound compared to other newspapers which can retail up to £3! Secondly, it comes with good supplements; it has one Celebs magazines which is similar to Love It magazine; it has fashion, horoscopes, interviews with on-trend people and best of all the things in it dont cost a bomb!
