The Daily Telegraph is a broad-sheet newspaper. The stories tend to revolve around political and world news, with little coverage of celebrity gossip, so it's right up my street! The paper is responsible for leaking the news about government expenses claims of late, and has been filled with details about that.

Regular writers tend to be upper or middle class, and some of the articles are very snobby, but there are also other writers (such as Graham Norton) who keep things down to the ground.

I particularly like the Saturday edition. For £1.65, you can the paper with an average of 13 supplements. My favourites are 'review' and 'weekend'. Review contains dozens of reviews on books, CDs, arts and theatre. I love reading the book reviews and have taken some recommendations from here (to varying success). Weekend contains such tantalizing tit-bits as a weekly restaurant review, which is always well written and interesting. You also get supplements on property, motors, sport and money, which I give a casual glance to. There's also a magazine: 'Telegraph', which contains (among other things), interviews with this week's featured celebrity. They get some very interesting people on the cover - Tom Hanks was particularly good.

Other interesting sections are the obituaries, which include half page articles on the most interesting of the recently departed.

Whilst the paper is aimed at the middle to upper classes, I think it has a lot to offer for those of us who are happily lower class but want a bit more than the Sun. I must admit I first bought it when I was in hospital, as I could see there would be a lot to read, but I haven't looked back.

As a broadsheet, it's a bit hard to handle, with pages flapping around everywhere, but if you're looking for detailed and 'serious' news, it's a great paper.

Summary: read it

They have a good online article selection that I use to teach from, but give me the Times anyday for actual reading.
