Top Gear Magazine
Advantages: Good reviews of cars
Disadvantages: nothing like the show!
I got into Top gear a while ago, and when I realised they had a magazine too I was really rather excited! I thought the magazine would be much like the show, but when I bought the mag I realised it was nothing like it.
The magazine really is just for people who like cars, and although I do, I love them infact, thats not what atrtratcs me to the show. Its the witty banter which goes on between the presenters.
The magazine has columns by both jeremy clarkson and james may, these are normally 2 page spreads about either cars or other random stuff, Hammond doesnt make an appearence anywhere which is slightly annoying!
the rest of the mag is filled with articles by random people about the cars which they're driving, now I understand the 3 presenters dont have the time to sit and write article after article about cars etc but to be honest the magazine has no relevence with the show. Apart from the name and the fact its to do with cars.
I expected the mag to be full of articles by Richard hammond, james may and jezza, and was very disappointed. Although it does show alot of the new cars, both supercars and normal cars, the articles aren't top gear like, and only say good things!!
Also, for almost £5, the magazine is a bit expensive seeing as half the mag is taken up with a spec list of all cars (well most of them!) at the back whihc makes the mag look alot thicker than it really is. Which is also very annoying!
All in all, if your going to buy this mag, dont expect it to be anything like the show!!
Summary: dont expect it to be anything like the BBC2 show!
