True Faith was created back in 1999 when two of Newcastle's former fanzines, Number 9 and The talk of the tyne, decided to stop publications. This left Newcastle with just one fanzine "The Mag", the oldest and most respected fanzine in the north east.

Because of this it was decided that true faith should be created to show more of a fans view and to be a more than worth companion along side The Mag.

True Faith started life as a simple black and white magazine without any colour and stood by it's claim that it would always put substance before stlye. Despite this claim however the style of the magazine has changed as time has gone on with colour now been added and the magazine has grown in size. Despite this the price has stayed low making it the cheapest fanzine in Newcastle.

The name of the magazine isn't really what you would expect for a Newcastle United magazine however they explain their reason for the name on their new website (www.true-faith.com)

"Some are bewildered by the choice of name for the fanzine. We aren't religious maniacs. The name was taken from the New Order classic and neatly sums up the unbelievable depth of support that exits for the most persistently under-achieving football club in the land. The name "true faith" is a tribute to the people who have followed, who follow and who will follow Newcastle United. No-one involved in true faith is interested in becoming a minor, local celebrity or in claiming to represent the views of Newcastle United supporters. We will leave that to others."

Although always a published fanzine first, the addition of the true faith website has allowed the fanzine to grow to a new audience including those elsewhere in the world who although support the club find it hard to get their daily dose of Newcastle.

Like the fanzine the website stands by it's claim that it's content first style second and this is prove
d by it's constant, almost daily updates but unlike other websites from the opinion of a fan rather than just detailing how a match went.

The most important thing to a Geordie is that their opinions are valued and this fanzine gives the fan just that.
