Dinghy Sailing ... for a newer review of Dinghy Sailing Magazine... DSM, as it likes to be known, is a monthly publication that deals almost specifically with - you ve guessed it - dinghy sailing! There have been times when the publication team have been attempting to bring keelboats into it, but fortunately this has never amounted to anything. There are regular columns from well-respected experts, and plenty of articles that should keep the average dinghy sailor interested. I always look forward to this mag being delivered to me - I subscribe, as it isn t always the easiest magazine to find in the shops. Dinghy Sailing ... has it taken so long for a magazine to arrive on the market that is dedicated to dinghy sailing and racing? Although the sport is covered in reasonable depth by Yachts and Yachting, they also cover keelboat racing and multihulls, and their articles. I think, are written in a way that appeals more to adults than young sailors. I was really excited to hear about the launch of this new magazine and I am very impressed with the first few issues. It is bright and well laid out, with good photo content. Most importantly the articles are written in an informal and approachable style that is attractive to all age ranges of dinghy sailors. Practical Boat Owner ... Boat Owner magazine (or PBO to it's friends) is aimed, unsurprisingly, at the practical owner with a limited budget as opposed to the big glossy boating magazines, which seem to be aimed at dreamers and millionaires, although the price tag, at £3.00 a go does not really reflect this (you can only presume that since we have a "Practical Boat Owner" magazine, then in an alternate universe somewhere, there is an "Impractical Boat Owner" magazine featuring articles such as "Going to Sea in a sieve", "10 reasons to shoot Albatrosses", etc.. still, I digress).
