As a major hifi enthusiast I am always looking to find the latest news in the world of sound and vision and there really is only one magazine for that in my opinion. That magazine is What HiFi sound and vision. I have read this magazine for the past five or so years and have been very impressed with the quality of their content. This magazine has been at the forefront of the Hifi world for well over ten years and is still going strong.

The main reason I buy this magazine over all the other HiFi magazines is the quality of reviewing they have, every issue they deal with the latest amplifiers, cd players, tuners, speakers and all other things to do with HIFI. I am currently in the market for a new amp and through good reviews in this magazine I tested a Rotel RA04 a while back and have now decided to buy the amplifier to go with my Sony CD player and Mission 771 speakers whcih were both five star winners when they were rated in what hifi.

The Reviewers

They have a fantastic team of reviewers who are the best in the business. They have a great number of fine reviewers. First off you have.

I'll start off with Clare Newsome who is the editor of the magazine and every month she introduces the new products that are being reviewed and does editorials on new technologies coming through.

Next there's Deputy Editor Andy Kerr who is also a very fine reviewer and is often involved in supertests which involve putting the top amps, speakers or any other products up against each other in a battle of the best products in the class.

Ketan Bharadia is the technical editor and is more involved with the home cinema sector and also the latest new products coming from the various audio/visual companies.

Simon Lucas is the first tests editor so he basically takes care of the reviews of the latest products to come from the production line of various hifi companies around the world.

Joe Cox is the news editor and he takes care of all the latest news in the hifi world including release dates of new products and information about how you can contact the company if your product has a fault.

All the best hifi stores are advertised at the back of the magazine and there are some great sections further to the middle of the magazine that have pictures and prices of the latest products on sale at the shops.

This is a great way of showing readers where you can get the latest products if you see a product you like from a review in the magazine you can search for it in the advertising section.

Subscribing

It is very easy to subscribe to the magazine and you get a discount and often get something aswell like a pair of headphones free with your subscription. currently you can receive a pair of Goldring in ear phones that are five star rated.

If you decide to subscribe you will get each three issues for £10.15 which is 15% cheaper than the £3.99 per issue that you pay individually. I still pay individually because I don't get every issue But if you will buy every issue it would be a good idea to get a subscription to save money.

Readers

There is also readers section where readers can write in to ask questions about anything to do with hifi. some ask about partnering equipment as you want to get the right balance between your hifi kit. You can ask about anything including the benefits of speaker wire and interconnects.

There's also a reader rescue which they have in the magazine every month when they go to someone's house and help them with getting new hifi equipment. This is often to do with people not knowing what to replace old kit with.

Past reviews

In every issue there are thousands of reviews are mentioned in a little synopsis of the review. These reviews include everything from cd players, amps, speakers to Televisions, DVD players, speaker wire, interconnects and hifi racks.

I find that This section is particularly useful if you have seen an older product that you would like to see just how good it really is before buying it. Great if you are putting kit together from different brands.

HIFI Show

Every year there is a what hifi show where all the major companies get to show off their latest products to the public with some products not out till the beginning of 2008 or some beyond that. The show this year is in Novotel London West in Hammersmith on the 2nd November -4th November.

Overall

What HiFi sound and vision is the best magazine of it's kind on the market because of many factors not least there amazing consistency in finding great products that become hugely loved by the public for years to come. The reviews are very informative and not over bearing like some other magazines in the hifi world.

If you are looking for a new hifi or anything audio/visual then take a look through this magazine before you go shopping as you may be able to pick out a real bargain.
