What's On TV

Advantages: Good informative soaps section, costs less than 50p

Disadvantages: Doesn't take that long to read unless you are interested in a wide range of programmes

This is the television listings magazine that I usually buy as I prefer the format of this magazine to most of the others.

Why Buy This Magazine?
What's On TV often changes its format on a regular basis. At the moment though, I really like the soap diary feature. This gives you a brief idea of what will be happening in your favourite soaps during the week. This is usually just a couple of sentences per day to tease you but it can give additional information that isn't included in either the soaps pages (which only really concentrate on 1-2 main stories from each soap per week) or the listings pages themselves.

After the soaps section, there are several pages dedicated to the various dramas and other television programmes that are on during that particular week. I tend not to watch a huge amount of television apart from the soaps, so I often skim these pages but they are a good source of information if you are looking for interesting programmes to watch during the week.

For those of you who watch films, there is also a films section picking out the best films that are on during the week (including those on the Sky channels) and briefly describing all of the films that are available to watch on the terrestrial channels.

For the television listings themselves, ther are several pages dedicated to each day of the week. This includes a double page for the terrestrial channels, and then a few more pages for the Sky channels. This includes the sports channels, film channels and entertainment channels, although there is not always listings for all channels. For example, I can never see listings for the Eurosport 2 channel but this seems to be the case across all of the television listings magazines.

After the listings pages, there is a horoscope page and the letters page. I often read these pages for a bit of light entertainment.

Any Criticisms?
The headlines on the front cover can be slightly misleading sometimes, presumably to encourage people to buy a copy. This is usually only in reference to the main story on the front cover though.

Price
This magazine has a standard price of 47p regardless of where you buy it from. There is 90 pages, although some of this is advertising and most of the magazine is the listings pages.

Summary: My favourite television listings magazine
