Advantages: Cheap, lasts ages, easy to sharpen and to use it
Disadvantages: Doesn't outlast gloss or lipstick or owt
Not very often do I invest in a lip liner, however as I'm getting older I find I'm losing a little bit of shape to my lips and I'm not as pouty as I'd like to be...so I decided to try and fake it when I saw this on sale at Boots last week lol.
The Pencil....
The Packaging of this pencil has changed of late as far as I'm aware of. Now the pencil is the colour of the actual product and as mine is called 'Buff' the colour of the pencil is like a nude colour and it has a clear long plastic clear lid which covers the nib safely and securely. In metallic silver writing I'm told it is Perfect Pout Lip Liner '17' and around the back of the pencil I'm told it is 'Buff' and that it is a 'Soft, lasting pencil to define lips for a perfect pout' and that it is dermatologically Tested, Fragrance-Free and contact details for Boots are given, the recycle symbol is displayed and finally there is a white sticky label with a black bar code on the lid that peels off easily.
Using It....
Costing me only £2.44 I didn't expect much from it which means the results I got from it were pleasantly surprising to me. After-all Boots 17 is not my favourite range of products!
It's easy to use, the colour comes off thinly and easily and is encased in very smooth wood with no fragrance to it and is of excellent quality. It glides over the lips (does sharpen easily) and I find it doesn't drag whilst applying it, isn't sticky, oily or drying out and is very comfortable to direct where you want it and takes no effort at all really to apply.
I wouldn't say it makes a pouty look but it does (even in this lightest shade available) outline and shape and define the lips really nicely for me. I like the consistency of it and I do really like the colour I chose as well as I can apply this to the out lines of my lips and can blend any colour lipstick with and into it really well indeed.
As for staying power well... it isn't going to stay any longer on your lips than your lipstick does. I find that when my lipstick slides off my face so does the lip liner really but having said that it isn't a massive problem to simply re-apply it anyway.
Verdict....
It's a nice, nifty, easy to use simple product that gives me no grief at all. It does really define my lips although temporary but the look I get with this on my lips I am happy with for the duration of it's stay. However it doesn't make my lips look particularly pouty or anything but it does define them as I have said already.
Do I recommend it? Yes for every day type of wear. Easy to apply, easy to remove and correct mistakes and it lasts ages in the pencil so it's an economical buy! A few colours are available (this being the lightest I saw and that's why I chose it) and I will definitely purchase a couple of others due to their ease of use in the future to make a wee collection up!
Nice little buy, only available in Boots in 6 different colours.
Summary: Cheapish product with decent results!
