Advantages: great for powder, bronzer, cheap and lasts

Disadvantages: none for me

One product that I have owned for many years now and which I use almost daily is the 17 shimmer brush. 17 is the less expensive Boots brand and whilst I don't really use their make up products very often the shimmer brush is one of my most used items in my make up case and this is my review of the product.

In all honesty I can't even remember when I bought this shimmer brush because I can always remember using it, certainly in the past few years when I started wearing make up most days again. Having looked on the Boots website for a current price of this product I can advise that it costs just £2.19 and whilst I probably paid a little more than that for the product when I bought it I still think it was a total bargain.

The brush is basically a large brush which I would describe as a powder brush really. It has a rounded base in which it can sit which has the 17 logo on in a golden coloured lettering but this is pretty much non existent on my brush now! It has a shiny golden coloured metal which holds all of the bristles in place and then lots of brown coloured bristles which span out a little like a fan does.

I use this brush every day to apply my powder on to the top of my liquid foundation and I find that the brush glides easily over the powder and holds on to plenty of powder. I usually give it a little blow just before brushing the powder on my face just to disperse any really loose bits of powder but it doesn't seem to hold too much powder anyway. The bristles on this brush are lovely and soft and so it isn't an issue using it all over my face. I also like to use the brush to stroke downwards on my face after applying my powder to create an even finish as this was something the make up artist for my wedding told me to do.

I have also used this brush when I want to apply bronzer to my face as it covers a large area quite quickly. I wouldn't use this one to apply blusher as I think it would be too much but for bronzing pearls on key parts of your face I think this is a great brush.

I have had no issues with any of the bristles coming loose on this brush and for me the fact that it costs just a couple of pounds makes it one of my best ever make up related purchases. It is the perfect brush to apply powder with and I would certainly recommend it.

Thank you for reading my review!

Summary: A great brush for powder
