Advantages: Cheap, nice range of colours, deep colours, easy to use
Disadvantages: Can be messy to apply, couldn't get the label off!!
I tend not to wear make up every day, mainly because I am just at home with Harry and he doesn't really appreciate it, but when I go out at weekends or with daddy2harry, I like to make the effort to put on a bit of slap. It makes me feel a bit better too! However, I am not one to spend a fortune on something I seldom use, so when I saw these 2True eyeshadow dazzler dusts on offer for 3 for £5, I couldn't resist.
2True are a company which I believe are only sold in Superdrug stores, and are at a much lower price than more well known cosmetic brands such as Barry M and Urban Decay. However, I thought it was worth a try for that price, and I was quite impressed at the selection of products and colours available in the shop. Among the products I saw lip glosses, eyeshadow dazzlers, eye liners and mascaras, so something to suit everyone.
As I like to add a bit of colour when I choose to wear make-up, I decided to take 3 of the dazzler eyeshadow pots. From what I remember, there was 12 different colours to choose from, ranging from white through to dark blues and greys, so a nice range of colours were available. The eyeshadows come in little plastic pots with black lids. The pots were obviously see-through so you could see the colour inside, and each pot holds 11 grams of eyeshadow. They aren't named colours, instead they are just numbered 1-12.
When I got the eyeshadows home, I wanted to try one out straight away to see what the quality was like, and whether or not I'd wasted my money! I'd chosen a bright purple, a green and a silvery sparkle one, and I thought I'd try the silver sparkle first as this was the most subtle for daywear. When you unscrew the black lid, there is a clear plastic sticker covering the holes of the pot. Now, I am not at all stupid but I could not remove this sticker for the life of me. I had to resort to getting a sharp kitchen knife and literally digging under it before it peeled off, and this was the case for all 3 pots which I found to be a right pain.
After I'd (eventually) got the pot open, there was a circle of holes where the eyeshadow was to be dispensed. I tilted the pot slowly to the side and tapped on the base gently to encourage the eyeshadow out. It came out very slowly, so I put the lid back on, gave it a shake and reopened it. This worked much better and there was a good sprinkling of eyeshadow over the lid and the pot. I got my eyeshadow brush and gently scooped up a bit from the lid onto the brush. This was easy to do and it stayed on the brush quite well and didn't make a mess.
I then slowly spread the eyeshadow across my eyelid, gently because I didn't want it to go all over my face and the sink! I found that most of the eyeshadow did indeed stay on my eyelids, but a lot of glitter still fell onto my cheeks and underneath my eyes which was a tad ridiculous, I couldn't move without sparkling like a glittered up person! I tried just brushing it away with my hands but that just spread it and also covered my fingers so I ended up with a baby wipe, rubbing it from my face. It took quite a few wipes to get it off my face which was annoying, but I soon realised it might be because of the glittery texture of this shadow.
I then decided to try the purple one to see if I had the same problem. This one seemed more powdery than the silver one which was almost pieces of glitter so I was a bit more hopeful about this. Again I popped it onto my brush and application was much more successful this time. It didn't fall onto my face as much and the small amount that did was easy to remove with a wipe. The colour was good, nice and rich and deep and a tad sparkly too, so I was really impressed with that! I found putting it on was much easier with my finger as I could much more easily control the amount and colour depth and I didn't make as much of a mess! At the end of the night, they came off easily with a make-up remover wipe and didn't leave any staining or residue either.
For the money, I think these eyeshadows are great value and a good product as well. I would definitely recommend putting these on before you apply any other make up as otherwise you'll just have to take it all off and reapply because of the mess, especially if you use the silvery sparkle one I did! There is a nice variety of colours available, and at £1.99 each or 3 for £5, they're a bargain and definitely something I'll being buying again. Available in Superdrug stores, and a small selection of colours is also available on the website www.superdrug.co.uk.
Thank you for reading.
Summary: A cheap fab little make up product
