Advantages: Great range of colours, glossy and smooth finish
Disadvantages: Chips a little easy, streaky at first when applied
I'm always on the hunt for good quality cheap nail varnishes that come in a good range of colours and 2True by Superdrug matches this almost perfectly. I've always been drawn to the lovely range of colours of nail varnish by them and for £1.99 or usually 3 for £5 you can't really go wrong for the price. They have also brought out 2True Crystal Nail Polishes which are a glittery shimmer finish but this is to be reviewed at another time. Today this will be about the Glossywear Nail Polishes.
The packaging itself is simple with the polishes coming in short round glass bottles with black lids and all the relevant information on the bottle. As the bottles are shorter the brushes attached to the lid are quite a bit shorter but I actually find this easier as I find that with bigger bottles the stem of the handle is too long and I usually end up with more nail varnish around my fingers rather than on the nail. My mum also has tiny hands and finds these really easy to apply as they are easier to get a more sturdy grip on them.
I have quite a few shades from this range and I seem to get drawn to the purple shades as I have now realised I have 3 of the same shade (No13). I also own some of the pink and red shades in No24 and No17. I do find that the lighter red and pink colours are alot thinner than the darker colours and I usually go for three coats of the lighter polishes and two coats of the darker ones. The nail polish itself is quite thin and the first time I applied the first coat I thought it was going to take me a lifetime to get a nice opaque shade. After the three coats I find that my nail is completely covered and has a lovely smooth finish. They do take slightly longer to dry than most but I always try and paint my nails in the evenings when I don't have anything else to do, so if your in a rush I wouldn't suggest these as a quick fix.
I have found that the lighter shades aren't as glossy as they look in the bottle as they are on the nail which is slightly disappointing but they have a nice finish all the same. The purple colour I have has a very glossy with a slight shimmer finish to it which is identical to the bottle so the colour pay off is really very good.
Wear and tear wise I find that again the lighter colours seem to be more problematic than the darker colours with them only lasting two days at the most and the darker colours lasting around 3/4. I always try and use a base coat to pro-long the life of them. I find that unlike some of the nail varnishes I own these do just chip off rather than fade. To be honest I rarely have the same colour on my nails for more than a week so this doesn't matter to me a great deal.
For the £1.99 price tag I think these come in a great range of colours and although they may require a few more coats and last a little less than the more expensive ones I think I can make a compromise purely for the gorgeous range of colours that they come in.
Summary: For the price I can't really complain!
