Lipstick Queen Rose Sinner Lipstick
by DinaMartini I have cool colouring, with very dark hair and hazel eyes, and am very into the vintage look. I have the perfect Hollywood matte red (Ruby Woo by Mac - is there any other?), but I really struggled to find a proper Rose pink lipstick. Most rose shades are dusky rose, so fine for warm skin tones, but not great for me, or a violent ... fuchsia colour, which is much too 80's! Then I found lipstick queen. It's called, simply, Rose. I initially tried it in the Saint formula, the sheer version, which is nice, but not spectacular, so moved over to sinner. Divine. A perfect retro matte, and a proper, proper pink. Not red-pink, not fuchsia, not baby pink, not dusty pink, but a deep, classic mid pink, equally good for day and evening. The formula is surprisingly light on your lip, and not at all drying (that's where the Mac occasionally falls down), which is unusual in a matte lipstick. It is definitely advisable to apply this with a brush, as it's a think formula, and the matching lip liner might be the way to go, although I use it without. As the other review said, it is best applied over lip-balmed lips, then blot and recoat. I don't think you need a sealer over the top, as it lasts and lasts on it's own. The only strange thing about it is that the lipstick has odd little bumps in it, again mentioned in the other review. This doesn't affect the application, but does feel a bit strange at first. The packaging is subtle and good quality, but not amazing. However, it is a superb lipstick and well worth the price. Read the complete review |

Lipstick Queen Shine Lipgloss
by lexx Shine Gloss is a Lipstick Queen product. This company was founded by Poppy King, a former Estee Lauder employee with a lifelong obsession with lipstick. The range is entirely lip products so there's more focus than a lot of cosmetic companies. The gloss comes in 7 colours including clear, red/pink shades, metallics and a ... really unusual sheer black shade. I have the gloss in the gold and silver shades. It is packaged in a clear plastic pot with a screw lid. There's a surprising amound of gloss in the pot so it lasts for ages. The gloss is vibrant and shiny in the pot, and remains so once on your lips. I found made my lips look fuller and it added a bit of glamour to my make up. My only criticism is how sticky this gloss is. I initially applied it using my finger and even after washing my hands thoroughly with soap I still had traces of stickyness. I highly recommend using a brush for this, preferably one that you only use for these glosses, and wash it regularly. I also had problems with my hair sticking to my lips in windy weather. The upside to the stickyness is that the gloss lasts well, even after eating and drinking. Shine lipgloss is available from Space NK. I can't remember exactly how much it was and can't find a price online (other than the US price- $22), but I think it cost around £16. It's expensive, but long lasting and you get a lot in the pot so is still reasonable value if you can cope with the stickyness. Read the complete review |

Lipstick Queen Medieval Tinted Lipstick
by RainWitch (Cross-posted on makeupalley.com) I don't know why I've seen so many bad reviews of this, saying this is just a coloured lipbalm! It is fairly sheer, but it has far more pigment than any lip balm I've ever seen and isn't really as moisturising as one. Price and packaging: I bought this for £19.50 from SpaceNK ... (I live in England but the product is the same.) This is very expensive for a lipstick, but I truly think it's the best out there that I've found. The packaging is very nice too, plastic holding it onto a card with the Biblical scene of Eve and the apple tree printed on it, but upside down. This symbolizes how upside down our world has become. Each element of the picture symbolizes something, which you can see on http://www.lipstickqueen.com/product_frame.htm It adds a bit of unusualness to the lipstick! As to the casing of the actual product, it is a shiny metal casing that is very durable and feels satisfyingly heavy to hold. It certainly won't get broken or scratched in your makeup bag. Lipstick Queen in gold letters is on the lid, and on the bottom is a little sticker that gives the name, the weight, the brand and an identifying number stamped on. Scent and appearance: Amazingly, this has no scent whatsoever. Amazing! If you like a scent in a lipstick, that's fine, but scent is a very personal thing and what one person likes, another will hate. Lipstick Queen has done the sensible thing here I think. As to appearance, it's a standard bullet shape. How to use and my opinion: I always pop on a little balm (Lush Lip Service) before any lipstick, but the one time I tried it without it went on perfectly. This is how I do all my lipstick: 1) Apply balm. 2) Apply layer of lipstick. Blot with cotton pad. 3) Apply another layer. Blot with cotton pad. 4) Apply coating of Lipcote (keeps lipstick on) And done! This stays on all day as far as I've noticed. If it does wear off, it does so all over, and doesn't leave a ring around my lips. This is definitely my go-to lipstick of a morning. It adds colour to my pale skin, and I usually wear it with a dusting of blusher and powder and a neutral brown eye. Great for work or school. If it ever runs out, I will buy again immediately. An HG I think! Read the complete review |
