ModelCo Fibre Lash Brush on False Lashes
by lucylu1029 I first spotted fibrelash in Boots many months ago, and whilst always being intrigued by it I assumed it would never live up to the bold claims it makes about being false lashes in a tube. I am a regular wearer of false eyelashes but often they are a pain to apply, but fibrelash is not cheap (35 pounds in Boots) so I was reluctant, ... however I relented and asked for them for christmas. I have to admit that when I opened the product, it was nothing that I expected, however I do not think that many people would know what to expect from a new product such as this! You get two tubes: The first, bigger tube is a black mascara similar to most others, the product packaging claims that this helps to clean the lashes, and it is this which the fibres will stick to. The second, small tube is full of the fibres, the best way to describe it is that it looks like dust all over a mascara brush. The instructions are on the back of the box and are relatively straight forward. You first apply the black mascara to your eyelashes as you would do with your regular mascara, then follow this by applying the fibres. You are advised to look down as you do this otherwise you may end up with fibres in your eyes. For best results, you leave the fibres to set for 30 seconds and then apply another coat of the black mascara. For a more dramatic look, you can repeat this process as many times as you like. I usually do this twice and the results are much better. I am generally really happy with this product, the results were better than expected as I really didn't think it would work at all. My eyelashes look much longer, thicker and darker (my own are short stumpy and blonde) and the effect is far more extreme than any other mascara I have ever used. In my opinion, it does not give a false lash effect as such, but there is no doubting that my eyelashes look as though they have doubled in length. The only problem is, due to the high price I am reluctant to wear this everyday as I would not want to fork out so much money for mascara on a regular basis so will be saving it for special occasions and nights out, much as I would do with my regular false lashes. Also, I found applying this mascara actually takes me longer than applying false eyelashes, however it irradicates the fuss and fiddle completely. Overall a fab product and would recommend trying it for yourself. Read the complete review |

ModelCo Fibre Lash Brush on False Lashes
by MalibuMands I admit it; whilst I'm a self-confessed mascara whore, I'm also the kind of person who, upon seeing the last of something, will develop a five year old's concept of "I saw it first, so it's mine". So that is why I bought the much sought after ModelCo FIBRE LASH in Boots as soon as I saw the last packet on the shelf a little ... while ago. - - - - - - - - - The hook - - - - - - - - - "There's no glue, no stress and no mess - we promise!" "Super voluptuous, clump-free, incredibly long lashes that last until you remove your make-up. The unique, new technology nylon fibers give high-impact length, whilst Bees Wax and Carnauba Wax help keep lashes soft and nourished. It's time to take your lashes to the extreme!" FIBRE LASH was launched in Australia last year and has already won an Australian Cosmopolitan beauty award [most innovative new product]. - - - - - - - - - - - Application - - - - - - - - - - - This set contains two tubes; a 10ml tube of lengthening mascara and a 0.6g tube of 'Lash Fibres'. The mascara is in a larger tube, as you need to apply two coats every time you wear FIBRE LASH, whereas you just need one coat of the lash fibres themselves. Begin by applying one coat application of the lengthening mascara. [The mascara does a excellent job of lengthening lashes when worn alone, although my lashes taper and look spindly]. Apply a single coat of the fibres on top of the mascara. The fibres will adhere to the base coat of mascara, instantly adding some volume and more length to your lashes, evening out the tapered look in the previous step. Then apply a second coat of the mascara over the layer of fibres. This secures the fibres in place and covers the white dusting of the lash fibres with a even, wet-look glossy coat of the rich black mascara. - - - - - - - - - - - - The formulas - - - - - - - - - - - - The result? My lashes easily double in length, but the volume increase isn't very staggering using the three-step method. However, the formula of the mascara is very light, so it's easy to stack layers up; I have also worn two layers of fibres and three coats of mascara and have found that this is great for a more voluminous lash look, but overall I'm happy with just the three steps listed above. As the mascara has such a light formula it is very easy to remove it at the end of the day/night. It seems to melt away with just a damp cotton ball, so no need for fancy (and pricey) eye makeup remover and - best of all - no panda eye effect the next morning. The first few times I used this kit I was left disappointed and was wishing that I had saved my money; the increased length was instantly noticeable, but the layer of fibres gave a knobbly appearance to the final layer of mascara. So this a product you have to use a few times whilst you get a feel for it and figure out how best to make it work for you. I've found that application via rolling the brush over your lashes - rather then using the typical zigzag motion - for applying the fibre coat is better, as this helps enough the the fibres are pressed down flat into the base, as well as being evenly distributed. Once you have used the kit a handful of times and learnt how best to use the brush of the fibre tube to get a even coating onto your lashes, application becomes automatic to you, so it won't take any longer to use this then it does to apply regular mascara. I've tried using the tube of fibres (it looks like a tube of cobwebs) with several other mascaras [TooFaced, Smashbox, L'Oreal and Bourjois], but every mascara clumps terribly over the fibers, so the featherweight feel of the ModelCo mascara formulation is needed - it's not just a gimmick. - - - - - - - - - - All-a-flutter - - - - - - - - - - I've now been wearing Lash Fibres regularly for over two months and have yet to experience any flaking. My eyes are slightly watery, but so far this hasn't caused the mascara to smudge, even on blustery days. Last week one of my cats was stolen, and the mascara didn't run when I got all misty eyed, so the mascara does seem to be somewhat water resistant, though the packaging doesn't mention this. On a average workday I wear my make-up for between 10 to 15 hours and spend the day on a computer, or getting yelled at on the company helpline. I regularly rub at my eyes without realising it and I will sometimes "get something in my eye" after particularly unpleasant phone calls, so yeah, I think I have the perfect conditions to test how well this product works. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - At the end of the day - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Overall; FIBRE LASH may not be the most voluminous, but it does provide super length to the lashes, with great separation. I personally prefer length over volume when it comes to mascara, so I have no complaints with the results. The best thing for me, however, has to be how easy it is to remove - I can't help repeating how it seems to just melt away. I've no idea how it can stay put 10+ hours without smudging or flaking, yet be so easy to wipe away at the end of the day. Plus, it wears well and thanks to being a three-step product, it doesn't clump. Once you've used this kit a few times it becomes as quick and easy as applying any other regular mascara, so don't let the fact that this comes as a two tube, three step kit put you off from trying it. Despite the good points I'm still not sure if I will replace my set when I run out, but this is mainly due to the price, rather then the usability and results of the product. Using one coat of TooFaced Lashgasm mascara [£16] over one coat of Smashbox Lash DNA mascara [£18] almost matches the length of Lash Fibers, as well as providing a lot of lash volume. But the overall price of these two mascaras works out at only £1 cheaper, plus this combination is a pain in the ass to remove; I had panda eyes for two days. - - - - - - Price - - - - - - £35 [Space NK and Boots] Read the complete review |

Model Co Fibre Lash
by steve4oo If you've been into a Boots store recently, you would have been lucky to escape the promotional advertisements for Fibre Lashes by Model Co. I avoided enquiring about it on purpose, after seeing the celebrity face of Danni Minogue on the product and making an assumption that whatever the product was would be rather expensive. In the end, ... after walking past it countless times I decided to have a quick peek... --- Model Co --- I hadn't heard of this brand before coming across Fibre Lashes so I was slightly unsure as to what kind of product quality I could expect from them. I have since found out that they are in fact a well established cosmetics brand who are based in Australia and Hong Kong. They are a relatively new brand, having launched in 2002 by a former modeling agent and over the years they have developed a celebrity clients base including Lindsay Lohan and Sienna Miller. They have become an international company selling cosmetic products globally from Europe to the Middle East. Model Co have released many products since their launch in 2002, one of the more recognisable and well known products of those being a heated eye lash curler. Their products in the majority appear to be an innovative and quirky twist on original and classic every day essentials such as 'Tan Airbrush in a Can'. --- The concept --- Fibre Lashes are a very interesting, new type of design and with the idea being something I had never heard of before. Model Co have clearly recognised the hassle that many of us girls experience when it comes to applying false eyelashes and turned it into something positive, literally by giving us false eyelashes in a bottle. Upon purchase of the product, you receive 2 bottles as part of the mascara 'kit' if you like. One bottle appears to be an average mascara, while the other bottle is much smaller. Inside this bottle is where the magic happens! Model Co have put tiny white fibres inside the bottle which come out of the bottle on the mascara wand, as a normal liquid mascara would. These fibres are the ingredient that allow you to create the same look as false eyelashes, but without the use of any glue and fuss. I will explain more about this when I come to the application part! --- My experience --- I will admit, at first I was very unsure that this could actually work. I didn't believe it would be straight forward because if that was the case, surely another brand would have come up with this a long time ago but curiosity got the better of me and soon enough I was trying it out for myself. As I touched on earlier, you get 2 mascara tubes, one considerably larger than the other. Both of these are packaged within one black box with the brand name on the front and it contains simple instructions for application. Firstly, you use the larger, normal looking mascara over your lashes as you would with the average mascara. After using this I didn't notice any dramatic difference to my eyelashes, just a bit of added length as you would expect. Next you use the smaller tube which contains the small white lash fibres. They adhere to your eyelashes which gives the appearance of much longer eyelashes as they act as an extension. You finish the process with another coat of the first black mascara, which ensures the fibres stay in place and really dramatises the whole overall effect. Taking the product off is again straight forward but it comes off slightly differently to a normal mascara as the fibre lashes have to be washed off so I rub my eyelashes between a face wipe and that seems to do the trick! --- Results --- Much to my surprise, what I experienced with this product was amazing and so much more than what I had anticipated. The application was my biggest concern as false eyelashes really do not float my boat and I avoid wearing them when ever possible, despite the fact I love how they look when they're done properly! Using Fibre Lashes is a really quick and straight forward process that literally takes five minutes of your time, if that. The black mascara has a cleverly designed wand that separates the eyelashes individually to avoid any clumping that the lash fibres would perhaps be prone to so you can apply more and more lash fibres over each coat of mascara as they just extend each time and you don't have to worry about them looking horrible and stuck together. The only down side for me was that the lash fibres are a little loose on the mascara wand and so when they are applied it needs to be done with extra care because it is easy for them to go into your eyes due to their tiny size but it has only happened to me once or twice so I don't consider it to be an issue, I just have to concentrate! --- Pricing and availability --- In terms of stockists, all Boots stores I have been into in recent weeks seem to have the product and that is the only place that has them which I am aware of in U.K. unless you go to larger department stores. But as always, the internet is a good place to purchase the product. Prices will vary from place to place but I paid £35 for my Fibre Lash Kit - I heard you gasp at that... --- Summary --- For me, the only draw back of this product is the price. However when put into context, false eyelashes do not come cheap and they can only be worn a handful of times. Fibre Lash doesn't use much mascara or many lash fibres on each use making it slightly easier to justify the price as you can be certain it will last you for some time. The ease of using it is a major plus for me because it makes it possible for me to achieve the look of false eyelashes, not just long and fanned out lashes but FALSE EYELASHES, finally! So the convenience factor does well to outweigh the price especially when I consider how much money I have wasted on false eyelashes. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a straight forward method of extending their eyelashes either for during the day or at night time. A well deserved 5 Dooyoo stars from me - I'm very impressed with Model Co! Read the complete review |
