Pixi Correction Concentrate
by HayleyBlondiee I bought this concealer on a whim, you know those times where you wander around Boots, spot something with a pretty fairy motif and buy it without really looking at what it is? No, just me then! It comes in a gorgeous off white box with a beautiful floral garland border adding a delicate touch. The brand name Pixi is ... presented gold and bold in the centre. On the bottom of the box are the ingredients which do not include parabens (something I often look for.) Another great little touch is on the back, where the products states it claims, is a little message from the creator Petra, informing you that this product is the equivalent to a "10 hour sleep in a jar" on reading that I was immensely glad I had purchased! Once you open the box a pot measuring about an inch and a half in diameter is inside the contents. The lid is a very pale mint green with an orange fairy or 'Pixi' emblazoned on the front. By simply twisting the lid you access the product - it reminds me of the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Concealer design with the small glass pot. I picked up the shade 'Brightening Peach' and after doing some research to find the other shades I realised that this is the ONLY shade available. I think this would be a strong disadvantage so I hope they get about making some more as I would definitely snap them up! However although the peach shade is gorgeous, its not a true orange peach as there is quite a lot of pink to it - more of a salmon colour which is fine by me as salmon concealers correct any brown circles and discolorations on they eye, where yellow and sometimes green balance our purple imperfections. The consistency is very thick and very creamy - almost like a paste. Some people will love that concept and others will hate it! It's a cliché 'marmite' product but I absolutely LOVE it! I use my fingers for application rather than a brush or sponge as I find I can pick up just the right amount of product whereas a brush and sponge absorb a lot and waste quite a lot. Swirling your ring finger into the pot (you don't use your ring finger as much as your forefinger so you won't be as heavy handed when applying) it feels very similar to the Dream Matte Mousse, very smooth and very silky. I dab a little onto my eye lids and blend it in up to my brow bone, it blends very well and leaves a gorgeous moist sheen to the eye area making my skin look fresh and more awake - it really does appear as if I have had a good nights sleep! You can wear this on its own or with foundation, just make sure if you are wearing it on its own that you blend very well as you don't want people thinking you've got a bit of jaundice! The pot contains 3g of product and is £12 from Boots. I think this is a brilliant amount of product for just over a tenner as it lasts for ages and my eyes like looking this rested - even after a late night out! Its full cover 'camouflage' depending on how much you put on, I find I have to apply at least two coats to get it full coverage but usually the one is more than enough. As well as the amazing packaging, creamy consistency and brilliant blendability, it is also very good and nourishing for your skin as it contains Vitamin E to nourish and protect, Vitamin C to brighten and revitalize, Vitamin A for its anti ageing effect and also a Rose Hip Extract for its cell regenerating properties to boost skin elasticity. I cannot recommend this product enough and anyone that will listen I tell them how brilliant it is and persuade them to try it! The only downside is the fact there is only one shade available, however I hope they do make some more as I look forward to sampling them and building up my Pixi Collection! Available at Boots or Boots.com, any department store that stocks Pixi products, all good online make up stores as well as eBay and Amazon. Read the complete review |

Pixi Eye Beauty Kit
by MalibuMands I used to love the bright colours and extremely rich pigmentation found in the Urban Decay eyeshadows, but lately I've become, I don't know, kinda bored with my usual routine. And I've suddenly realised that I'm now twenty eight, so yeah I'm not 'young' anymore. I guess it's sensible make-up [ahem, most of the time], twin set and pearl ... time... - - - - - - - - - - The colours - - - - - - - - - - The colour combinations and the satiny finish to the shadows in the Miracle Velveteen compact really appealed to me as the colours are neutral and only one shade is dark, so this is something that can be used every single day, at any time of day and with any outfit. None of the shadows contain shimmer, so I decided that this was a 'sensible' palette, so I thought that I'd give it a whirl. Miracle Velveteen contains; 1) Pearl 2) Peach 3) Taupe 4) Medium brown 5) Pale pink 6) Tan 7) Lilac 8) Dark brown The Miracle Velveteen colour combination appears to have been discontinued, but it is still in stock on Amazon. The similar colour combination 'Miracle' is still in production at time of writing, and is sold on the Boots website. I think the finish of the eyeshadows is the main difference between the two palettes; Miracle seems to contain lightly shimmering shadows, opposed to Miracle Velveteen's satin finished ones. - - - - - - - - - Packaging - - - - - - - - - The lid top on the plastic shell casing has a mirror and the square shadow pans are the perfect size and shape for fitting full sized eyeshadow brushes in, not just the brush included with this palette. As this palette is small [barely bigger then a credit card] and very slim, I wasn't really expecting a lot of product. However, I've been using the palette regular for over two months now and have yet to reach pan on any of the shadows. The double-ended brush is packaged separately from the palette, despite the photo on here. - - - - - - Wear - - - - - - I tried taking photos of swatches on my arm, but the shades didn't show up on my skin. Not a good sign from the get-go and sure enough the pigmentation has proven to be a huge letdown for me. The shades do make my eyes look bright and alert, but all of the colours look more of less the same on my pale skin. I don't know how this has happened - the overall quality of the shadows is great, but for some reason the colours just don't show up on me with much variation between them. The first seven shades all just morph into skin tones when applied; I'll note that the peach shade shows up a little bit more then the others, but apart from that I had to take photos straight away and make notes of which shades I was wearing at the time. The darkest shade in this palette [number eight] is the standout here for pigmentation - although this is also a bit lighter then what I'd expect. I think that this shade makes a great alternative to using an eyeliner - it's less harsh, but still helps to exaggerate the size of my eyes. Now on to the good bits; all of the shadows are so finely grained, and apply so creamily that they seem to melt like butter on hot bread. And as you'd expect from such a rich shadow, the application, blending ability and wear is exceptional. Some powder shadows can look chalky and flecks of the powder can fall down under my eyes, but the formula of these shadows have never caused this fallout on me, even when I try to be clever and blend three or four different shades together. I've found that the shadows easily last though my working day [over eight hours], even without using a eyeshadow primer and still look fresh at the end of the day. I work on a computer and keep rubbing at my eyes, but this has yet to result in any smudging or fallout. - - - - - - Verdict - - - - - - I'm on the fence with this palette - there's something here for most skintones [I'm not sure how the shades would look on darker skin, but I suspect that it would look ashy], all of the shades go with every eye colour and the blendability and wear of the shadows is very impressive. The size of the palette is another huge plus; it's ideal for throwing into a bag when you are late for work or are going swimming and don't want to carry a bulging makeup bag around with you. As well as being compact the shell is also hard wearing, so it's fantastic for nights away and holidays too. But, good points aside, at the end of the day everything boils down to the fact that I paid for eight shades and there are only two major differences between all eight shades - the first seven shades all look extremely similar when they're actually on my skin, with only the eighth shade standing out from the rest [and even that goes on lighter then it looks in the pan]. So I can't recommend this particular shade combination, as it offers poor value for money. I really like the feel, fresh eyed look and the wear of the Pixi eyeshadows and these good results I've experienced with this palette are enough that I'm planning on exploring the brand in more depth. But the problems with the pigmentation is enough to make me wait until I go somewhere that has a larger Boots store that stocks Pixi cosmetics [for me that'll be the Trafford Centre branch], as you need to test the colours before you buy. So, yes to the formula, no to this particular palette and no to buying online to save money, as the shadows need swatching before you part with your cash. Here comes the guilt-easing math bit: Individual eyeshadows: £10.50 [x8] Duo eyeshadow/liner brush: £18 = £102 Pixi do not test on animals. - - - - - RRP - - - - - £26 [Debenhams.com] £18.50 [Boots.com and in larger stores] ** I'll be posting this review on Ciao and it'll include photos, so you'll be able to see the pigmentation problems for yourselves ** Read the complete review |

Pixi Fluid Lip Creme
by prettypolly40 *Why did I purchase it?* I find with lip products there is so much to choose from it can be overwhelming. I find lipstick doesn't cut it for me in the staying power part but it doesn't stop me from purchasing them. While on the hunt for another gloss I came across a brand called Pixi Beauty, who I had never heard about before ... and was intrigued to try some of their products. *About Pixi Fluid Lip Creme* Pixi Fluid Lip Creme is described as intense colour, with a lovely silky finish and loads of gloss, it is moisturising to the lips as well as being long lasting unlike other lip glosses on the market today. This product is also infused with fresh mint oil. Mint is mostly recognised as an ingredient in toothpaste, chewing gums and breathing inhalers as well as other products. It is a herb that also has remarkable medicinal properties. Fresh Mint Oil is good as it has anti-septic properties, it helps to soothe skin and keep it moisturised. *What does the packaging look like?* Pixi Fluid Lip Creme's packaging is very simple but not a design I have seen with a lip gloss/creme before. It comes packaged in a small clear plastic tube that is wider at the top and gradually slims down. The screw off cap is in matte silver with the name of the product is on a sticker on the cap. Writing on the front in white says Pixi Fluid Lip Creme. The back states it is a 9.5ml product and the web address. *What I thought of it* I only got one lip creme in colour Garbo, number 1. Garbo is a lovely nude/cameral colour that can be worn with any makeup application and won't look out of place. Unscrewing the lid like any other lip gloss there is a little built in sponge applicator that you use to apply the product to your lips. Swatching the colour to the back of my hand I am surprised to see how pigmented it is and a little thick, glosses are normally sheer so I was surprised to see this. Even though the colour in the tube represents a nude/cameral colour in reality it is a lovely nude with pink, peach undertones that looks very easy to wear, even on the back of my hand this product looks very glossy without being runny in anyway. *How easy is it to apply and does it last?* Applying this product is very easy with the built in applicator, simply glide over your lips, it is also easy to get an accurate lip line with the applicator without going over the edges. Because it is a thicker product it feels slightly difficult to glide on the lips as it tends to cling where it is put and feels sticky. Unlike most glosses that can move on the lips and bleed due to them being runny I find this product clings onto the lips and doesn't budge while keeping them soft, like all glosses it can transfer easily onto cups and when you're eating but I find if you're out and about or not eating or drinking the fluid lip creme does not move from your lips and when it does transfer onto cups you will find you still have the colour and a gloss although some has been took off. Out of all glosses I own this product stays on the longest, you are talking hours on the lips without budging, which is fantastic for a gloss. While out and about in the cold, wind and rain other glosses and balms I own have either rubbed off, disappeared or look a mess. This product looked exact the same as when I applied it, however in the harsh wind my lips did feel a little dry but not as much as other glosses would. For the price one might expect to get something tacky and awful to use, fluid lip creme is great quality for the price and not something I was expecting it to be. *What other colours can I purchase?* At directcosmetic.com there are only four colours to choose from and this range from Garbo to reds and pinks. *Price and availability* Pixi Fluid Lip Creme is cheap for what it is but I have managed to find it for and who I purchased it from for £2.99 from directcosmetics.com Pixi Beauty store in London prices may be higher. *What I think about it/do I like it* Unlike Moisture Tint, which is sheerer I find this product lovely to use. I find Fluid Lip Creme unlike any other gloss I have ever used before, it stays put, the colour pay off is fantastic, however after a long period of wear I am finding it leaves the lips slightly dry but nothing to really complain about. I would also say as a warning is to make sure your lips are in tip top condition before you apply this, as the gloss is thick, very pigmented and wont budge having dry lips will stand out a mile and ruins your whole look as well as making your lips look 10 times worse. If you have great conditioned lips this product will be your next best friend. I would also say at the end of the day when you have removed this product is to apply a moisturising lip balm otherwise you will find your lips may become dryer. I have worn this with a slight smokey eye for day time and this colour goes so well together, without looking made up or looking like you're trying too hard. If you are going for a natural look it is also perfect for making you look polished and glam. With some glosses that are pale I find with my pale skin they can wash me out, with the pink and peach undertones I feel this does not happen. I have also found while out and about if it is windy keep your hair out of the way as you will find your gloss may be over your cheek as well as your hair. *Would I purchase again?* I am unsure about the other colours in the range as I feel they are too pink and red for me but I would purchase Garbo in a flash.
