Playboy Cosmetics Calendar Girl Highly Pigmented Lipstick
by xxSalzxx
Pretty much every year at Christmas and on my birthday my Auntie will buy me a Playboy set. Im not complaining becaise usually I would love anything with the Playvoy brand name but I have found their cosmetics to be the same quality as a childs make-up set you would buy for fancy dress from Poundland. Dont get me wrong some of the stuff ... I have tried have been really brilliant but the vast majority have been things I have only used once and wouldnt give to my worst enemy. Thankfully this lipstick comes under the first category as it is one fot the few things I have received in these sets that I use quite regularly and would probably go out and buy again if it was cheap enough.
Useful Information:
Price: Around 5.00
Stockists: Amazon:
Shades: The shades are all named after months of the year: January, November and so on and are all differing shades of pink and brown really although I think one is a very shocking red. I personally own the Miss July shade which is a dusky pink colour and thankfully my personal favourite - I expected with a brand name like this the colours to be a bit bolder and brighter but I think Id be happy wearing most of these - and there is something for everyone.
The packaging for this is something that seems to split peoples opinions. You either think it is super cute or super tacky - Im somewhere in the middle as I do like it but at the same time I do think it is a little OTT. The big of the packaging you twist has the small Playboy bunny logo protruding from it and there is also one on top of the lid - which might I add is bright pink and also covered in bunnies. Make up your own minds on this one - I think they could have made the packaging a bit classier and still had their logo somewhere but this seemed a bit like overkill for me.
The lipstick itself I really like. The colour for me is perfect as it is a a really cute dusky pink shade making it perfect for using any time of the day for any occasion and even though the colour is pretty striking it is natural enough not to look really trampy. It goes on really smoothly and evenly and although it doesnt seem to enhance any dry/chapped skin you may have on your lips I do recommend exfoliating first just in case.
Now no lipstick is the most moisturising thing you can apply to your lips and this one is no different but having said that it doesnt seem to dry out my lips at all and when used alongside a gloss or balm does feel quite nourishing. This lipstick tends to last on me for around 5 hours before I need to re-apply which I would say is quite good especially when Im eating, drinking and smoking whilst wearing it and it can last longer when a base is applied first.
I do recommend it for this lipstick itself but the packaging leaves a lot to be desired - buy for the product not the package. Thanks for reading.

Playboy Cosmetics Calendar Girl Highly Pigmented Lipstick
by CheekyCharlie08
I was desperate for new make up a couple of months ago...... I mean I'd still got BAGS of it but I fancied having a bit of an image change. The trouble was I've got literally hundreds of pounds worth of make up that I've collected, and because my mum is MAD for expensive make up I've got the best brands in my make up bag out of all my ... mates! Having all that meant I didn't want to spend mega money on restocking my make up so I decided to do it on the cheap and give some of the cheaper brands a try.
One bargain I had was these Playboy Calender Girl lipsticks, they was in Poundstretcher for £1.29 each.... I'm not all that up on Playboy stuff but I knew that was a good price. Calender Girl Lipsticks are named after the months of the year, they only had a couple of different colours in Poundstretcher but I liked both of them so I bought 2 of each. That was a bit of a risk actually because the packaging and lipstick itself looks dead cheap, but it's turned out to be a very good buy because they're wicked.
Miss January is a bright sparkly red, it's a bit of a wine colour and not slapper-red so looks great any time you're heading somewhere that pure red lippy isn't going to go down well! I mean, there's nothing wrong with slapper-red but it's got its place! lol Miss October is a nice girly pink, I was surprised at these 2 colours because I think if I could find the whole 12 month set there would be a good selection of shades to suit everyone. To be honest I thought all Playboy lipsticks would be red so I was happy to find a selection of less in your face colours!
Both the lipsticks act the same when I'm wearing them and the only difference is the colour. They're creamy to put on but one bad thing is that they do bleed round my lips so make sure you use lipliner for definite. The red one is the worst for that but that's because of the strong colour. I've got so many lipsticks that I don't wear these Playboy ones every day and that's a good thing because I always notice they dry the skin of my lips out when I've worn them a couple of days running.
The lipsticks both look wicked though and they last a lot longer than I thought they would, I was most surprised about the pink one actually because that's such a light girly colour that I didn't think it would have such good staying power. The red one is very glossy and it's easy to transform it into a clubbing lipstick by putting a coat of clear gloss on the top, I'd say the pinky lipstick is better for day wear because it's smart and summery...... actually it's weird that this colour is Miss October because it would be a lot more suitable as Miss May or Miss June!
I'll definately look out for more Playboy lipsticks, I'm not into Playboy at all but this is a quality product and I'm glad I found them at such a bargain price. I'd pay the full £4.99 for them actually and probably will next time I've got an Amazon voucher to spend because they've got the full range of colours on there and I've spotted a few I fancy trying.
The packaging is ok, the rabbit head snapped off one of the lipsticks but I was just waiting for that to happen so wasn't too fussed about it. It hasn't damaged it because it snapped off clean and in a way I think it looks better without the big rabbit head because it doesn't look so childish!

Playboy Pick Up Liner Eyeliner Pen
by Fairypants
Let's not start this review with a Playboy sized elephant in the room.
Yes, this is the brand launched by Hugh Heffner, he of the myriad identikit blonde girlfriends and rather natty smoking jacket. Yes, It is promoted and worn by the aforementioned identikit blonde girlfriends. Yes, the make up stand itself features images ... of scantily clad ladies. Yes, the only people who would aspire to this brand can't actually afford it out of their pocket money, and are too young to understand some of the provocative shade names used.
But heed me when I say - this eyeliner is GOOD. It's rather more than good actually, it's pretty amazing.
I have tried maaaany liquid eyeliners, more than a few in this familiar 'felt pen' format. I like this format, it makes application a lot easier and cleaner.
I own a couple of shades, my favourite being Turquoise. It's real shade name I won't repeat here, for decency's sake. It's a great quality colour, really intense. It dries quickly too, so you have no worries on that score!
The brand itself is supposed to be exclusive to Superdrug, though I have seen it elsewhere. The full retail price of this product is £7, but hush - I'm going to tell you a secret.
Get down to your largest Superdrug, where problems with the supplier are causing stock to be sold off at £1. I didn't tell you. Read the complete review |
