Soap and Glory Show Good Face Foundation
by Lighthouse66
Well let's start off by saying I HATE buying foundation, I can never find one that is good enough but don't like paying a lot for make-up. I really do fall for pretty packaging and when I walked past the Soap and Glory counter in Boots I was in Make-Up Heaven.
I use all the soap and glory products for the bath/shower, body creams, ... shimmer sprays etc. and thought this would be just as perfect.
Foundation doesn't last very longer on me so started looking for a primer, then I came across this foundation + primer in one...Bingo! Or so I thought!
I was slightly more tanned that usual when I bought this but I don't mind looking like I have a 'glow' so I was there with my £11 foundation (cheap for a foundation + primer in one I thought) bounced to the counter and was so happy with my purchase.
Then I began to use it and my heart actually sank, it was quite heavy on my skin and didn't blend very well either, I hate thick foundation and that is what this was like - it felt cheap! I hoped that this aside that it would last longer but no...It lasted no more than two hours, poor for an £11 foundation I feel.
It also gave me SPOTS! Quite bad and I am still recovering from how terrible my skin went it must have been the thickness of the foundation. I very rarely get spots yet I was covered in them, my chin, my forehead!
It is fair to say I will not be using it again, no matter how pretty the packaging. For the price I would rather get a more expensive foundation that doesn't feel so thick and heavy. Read the complete review |

Soap and Glory Lid Stuff Eyeshadow Quad
by Helrobs
So, if you look at my other reviews you may realise that I am a bit of a Soap and Glory fan, at least of their toiletries. As for the makeup, in certain cases I am still to be convinced. Whilst this eyeshadow has some really good points, it doesn't quite have as firm a place in my heart as some of the others. I bought Smokey Dokey Lid ... Stuff about 18 months ago and below are my thoughts.
The Packaging:
Lid Stuff comes in a plastic square container with a clear lid with 'Lid Stuff' written across it in gold. The box itself is really strong, I have had it for a year and a half and the hinge shows no sign of wear and tear. The palette inside consists of 4 circles of eye colour. I have the Smokey Dokey box which has the colours Diamondust (A pale pinkish colour with a hint of shimmer) Chine (A Lillac colour with a hint of shimmer) Black Gold (A matt grey colour) Smokin' (a shimmery dark grey colour). There is not an applicator included but this is mentioned on the box, they say that its better to use a proper brush.
The Product:
The main reason I was attracted to this product was because I wanted to be able to perfect the smokey eye look. It looked like this would be possible with the palette. The colours are all really nice and well balanced and I thought that I could create something really striking with them.
On the packaging Soap and Glory claim that "4 shades of fabulous flawless-finish, super colour 8 hour wear eyeshadow (that wont flake, wont crease)" This is definitely true. I can quite happily put the powder on early in the morning and keep wearing it into the night. The powder really does stay on, however, I find I have to use a lot of powder in the first place to make it visible. I really like the light colours (Diamondust and Chine) but the powder just doesn't show up unless I use quite a lot of product. Conversely, the darker colours are so dark that they have to be used incredibly sparingly.
Once you have the right balance of colours though Lid Stuff is good product. It feels really nice on my eyes, the powder is smooth and silky and has a really nice light shimmer. The shimmer is so slight that it just catches the light occasionally, its not like a strong glitter so don't be put off.
Verdict:
In essence I do like the colours contained in Lid Stuff and the feel and look of the product. However, I feel you need a bit of practice to get application just right. Two of the colours can be so light you can barely see them and the other two are so dark you can look a gothic. However, the practice is worth it as the colours can work well together the are just a little fiddly to get used to. Also, at £10 I feel there are cheaper alternatives which would give you just as good a look with less need to practice. Read the complete review |

Soap and Glory Glow All Out
by Helrobs
I will admit I'm a big fan of Soap and Glory toiletries but am sometimes less impressed with their cosmetics. However, I love the toiletries so much that I often find myself trying their make up too, even if not all results have been great. Glow all out is on of their few make up products that to me meets the high standards I expect from ... the company.
The Look:
Glow all Out comes in a nicely styled outer box and when you open it the actual product is in a handy compact which is made of thick cardboard (it looks better than that makes it sound!) IT has the typical black and white photo on the front and Glow All Out emblazoned across it. It flips open to reveal the product with a mirror in the lid. There is a strong magnet which keeps the compact closed. Whilst I do like the look of it I do think the packaging could be a little better, I use this a lot and often have it chucked in my bag and it ends up getting a bit bashed. As it is made of cardboard it means the join between the lid and the base is not very strong and on the two I have had the lid has broken off both of them.
The Product:
Glow all Out works basically as a powered highlighter. It gives definition to cheek bones andcan be sued to highlight any other areas of your face you may want. The colour is quite light so it's not like a heavily coloured blush, it just gives a nice sheen and definition. I was particularly attracted to this as I already have rosy cheeks. Because of this I don't need to use blusher but sometimes I feel I would like to highlight my check bones. The product can be used all over if you wish to give you a slightly dewy look, but personally I think it just makes my face look a bit glittery and strange so I use it just for highlighting.
How to Use:
I tend to use a blusher style brush, simply sweep across the compact and apply to the apples of my cheeks. As I don't use blusher it just gives a really nice, fresh, dewy look. I tend to smile as I put it on to make my cheeks prominent but that may just be me! I have a really natural looking glow when I use this, but I do use it quite sparingly so that I don't look over made up. It stays on all day and into the night but comes off easily with regular cleanser or wipes.
The verdict:
I really love this product. As I say I use it sparingly to give me a natural dewy look. It's particularly good in the summer when you want the effortless looking but blooming time consuming fresh faced look. It's great value for money too at £11. I've had my current one for about 5 months and there is still lots left. Be careful not to overload your brush though or you will go from dewy to scary/shiny in one quick step!
