“ Brand: Accessorize / Type: Nail Varnish / Subcategory: Nail Polish / Suitable for: Nails „
On a recent trip to Superdrug which is quite a rareity for me as I tend to prefer Boots I was browsing their wide selection of make up brands looking for a couple of neutral eye shadows. Instead I ended up coming away with a variety of make up items none of which I really did need more the case of I want! One item I bought was from the Accessorize make up range which although I knew Accessorize had a range I didn't know it was available from Superdrug but I was pleased to see a range which wasn't ridiculously priced and had a variety of products in decent shades.
Accessorize is more famously known for its wonderful range of well accessories ranging from beautiful jewellery to hats and scarves as well as everything in between. They have however branched out with a small but decent range of make up which all seems to be very reasonably priced and affordable for everyone. Their range although not extensive has all the essentials such as foundation, eyeshadows, blushers etc.
The item in question is the Accessorize Nail Varnish and more particularly in a shade called 'Camel'. I do tend to stick to neutral colours and although it has taken me a while to try nude shades of nail varnish I am quite taken with them and the look that they give. The Accessorize nail varnish is priced at a reasonable £4 which compared to a lot of other high street bands it seems to fit in price wise. The range in Superdrug has far more shades than the Accessorize website and they do have a decent range of shades from the brighter tones to the more subtle.
All the nail varnishes come in exactly the same packaging - a short almost stocky round glass bottle complete with a metallic gold top. The packaging is incredibly simple yet quite impressive and certainly looks the part. On the bottle itself the Accessorize font logo is in gold together with a few butterfly images and on the back of the bottle there is very simply some information on the product, barcode as well as the specific shade you've bought. The brush applicator is attached to the gold top which screws onto the glass bottle.
The shade I bought is still available in store and on their website and it is a lovely matt finish to it, there is no trace of glitter or metallic hues whatsoever. They class it as camel but I would class the shade camel as having yellow/golden tones to it where this is more of a mushroom type colour but regardless of the shade's name the colour is lovely, a warm neutral shade which for me is an easy to wear colour and of course it is subtle enough for work.
The nail varnish doesn't seem to have an overly strong smell to it which is great, I really do hate nail varnishes that have that horrible almost toxic smell but this hardly has any aroma at all. The applicator is a brush and is normal in shape but it picks up the liquid easily. The nail varnish itself has a decent consistency, it isn't runny or thin but it does seem a lot thicker than other nail varnishes I have used and this of course showed a little promise as there is nothing worse than putting coat on top of coat when trying to get a decent colour.
Obviously applying the Accessorize nail varnish is no different than applying any other! I always apply the first coat over a base coat which helps protect your nails but anyway back to the application! Because of its decent consistency it spreads nicely and evenly on the nail without running straight to the cuticles meaning you end up getting a much better finish. The colour on the first coat finishes in a matt colour which is just the same colour as the varnish in the bottle which is even better. The first coat dries really quickly and is touch dry within a matter of minutes.
You can easily get away with just one coat but for me I always apply a second coat and although it doesn't give the colour any more depth I feel that by having two coats means that the nail varnish will last longer as it will be stronger on the nail. I found that this nail varnish lasted for a good few days before it started to show signs of wear and chip which to be fair for the price I really can't complain especially when it is removed so easily and is applied quickly and dries in a matter of minutes. To remove I found that with even the most basic of nail varnish removers manage to remove all of this varnish will little issue making it great to apply as you don't have to worry about having issues removing it.
Overall, I found that this nail varnish is a great addition to my nail varnish collection as it really does do what I want it to and gives a lovely colour. I can't find any fault with the nail varnish at all and will definitely be buying a few more shades. Definitely a recommendation for those looking for a decent nail varnish without breaking the bank. 5 stars from me.

Availability: Accessorize stores, website and Superdrug
I love doing my nails and keeping them looking colourful yet neat and tidy. I was bought a couple of these Accessorize Nail Polishes for Christmas last year and love using them. Within the selection I was bought included the Mink shade, a lovely bright pink and a royal purple shade.
There is a lovely range of different colours in the Accessorize range, from light blues to dark pinks and also a nice number of both sparkly and plain glossed nail varnishes so I doubt it would be hard to find a colour that you like.
The colours come up really nice on my nails and match the colour in the bottle really well, which is nice as there are no nasty suprises when you paint this varnish on and it dries.
This nail varnish is really easy to apply, it glides on quite smoothly and does not clump a lot. The applicator brush that comes with this polish is really nicely shaped and makes it much easier to paint my nails neatly.
This polish also dries rather quickly, I wouldn't say it is as quick as the 60 second nail polish, but it definitely is much quicker than most other nail varnishes that I use.
I found that these nail polishes last ages on my nails. On average this nail polish lasts without chipping for around 4-5 days which is ages for me as I am always fidgeting with my nails and it usually never lasts over 2 days for me.
Price and Availability
You can buy these nail varnishes in Superdrug for around £3.50 a bottle. I think that this is quite a good price for these polishes as the colours are lovely, they are good quality and the bottle lasts for ages.
I think that these are fantastic nail varnishes, I will definitely be buying more shades in these varnishes and I would recommend them to anyone who wants a nice, long lasting, no hastle nail varnish. Overall I would give these 5 out of 5 stars.

*Firstly, before I go further, I would just like to point out that when I suggested this category I intended to write about the Accessorize polish brand as a whole, rather than just one colour as Dooyoo have listed. So despite the fact the shade mink is in the title, this review does discuss more than just that shade.*
When I first saw the Accessorize make-up range, although I was attracted by the pretty packaging, I must admit to being doubtful of the quality. To me, Accessorize make accessories, not make-up and I guess I thought that the products may not be as good as those manufactured by companies who solely produce make-up. Having now tried several items from the Accessorize make-up range I am happy to report that I was wrong. One of my favourite things Accessorize make are their nail varnishes, which I will now review.
These nail varnishes come in a huge assortment of colours and textures. I currently have four and have to frequently stop myself from expanding the collections as the colours are all so desirable! One of the things I really like about the polishes is that they come in lots of different effects. Two of my four are glitter polishes - gold dust, which is very fine glitter, then molten copper which is chunkier particles of glitter. I also have one called Aztec which is from their Illusion range and has a two-tone effect so changes colour in the light. My fourth polish is called mink and is a simple, solid beige-brown colour.
The polishes all come in short, cylindrical bottles and the lid is the same width as the bottle. The bottles all have a cute little picture of a butterfly on them which make them look quite feminine. Despite being quite wide, I don't find the handle of the brush to be awkward to use and the brush itself is a nice size too.
The polishes all go on really easily, even the glitter ones. They're all a really good consistency, being neither gloopy nor watery. I find that the 2 'normal' polishes give great coverage in just one coat, whereas the glitter polishes sometimes need two, just to fill in any gaps where there is no glitter.
The polishes dry really quickly, which I love and they all look great on. The glitter polishes especially are the best glitter polishes I have ever used. I don't use them often as I just don't often have the occasion to, but they are super effective and eye-catching. I actually like using them on just the tips of my nails too, sort of like a French manicure, but with glitter instead.
Longevity of the polishes is excellent. I recently wore the mink colour for three days with no chips (and that was with just one coat) and on the third day I applied a top coat (it took me that long to get around to it!) and got another four days wear from it.
These polishes cost £4.00 each from Superdrug or Accessorize stores, however Superdrug have had them reduced to £2.95 for a good few weeks now.
Overall, I'm really impressed with these polishes. If I wasn't actively trying to stop buying nail varnishes (it's like a compulsion with me!), I would probably own the whole range by now. They're reasonably priced, great quality and long lasting. A definite thumbs up from me.
