On a recent trip to Superdrug which is quite a rareity for me as I tend to prefer Boots I was browsing their wide selection of make up brands looking for a couple of neutral eye shadows. Instead I ended up coming away with a variety of make up items none of which I really did need more the case of I want! One item I bought was from the Accessorize make up range which although I knew Accessorize had a range I didn't know it was available from Superdrug but I was pleased to see a range which wasn't ridiculously priced and had a variety of products in decent shades.

Accessorize is more famously known for its wonderful range of well accessories ranging from beautiful jewellery to hats and scarves as well as everything in between. They have however branched out with a small but decent range of make up which all seems to be very reasonably priced and affordable for everyone. Their range although not extensive has all the essentials such as foundation, eyeshadows, blushers etc.

The item in question is the Accessorize Nail Varnish and more particularly in a shade called 'Camel'. I do tend to stick to neutral colours and although it has taken me a while to try nude shades of nail varnish I am quite taken with them and the look that they give. The Accessorize nail varnish is priced at a reasonable £4 which compared to a lot of other high street bands it seems to fit in price wise. The range in Superdrug has far more shades than the Accessorize website and they do have a decent range of shades from the brighter tones to the more subtle.

All the nail varnishes come in exactly the same packaging - a short almost stocky round glass bottle complete with a metallic gold top. The packaging is incredibly simple yet quite impressive and certainly looks the part. On the bottle itself the Accessorize font logo is in gold together with a few butterfly images and on the back of the bottle there is very simply some information on the product, barcode as well as the specific shade you've bought. The brush applicator is attached to the gold top which screws onto the glass bottle.

The shade I bought is still available in store and on their website and it is a lovely matt finish to it, there is no trace of glitter or metallic hues whatsoever. They class it as camel but I would class the shade camel as having yellow/golden tones to it where this is more of a mushroom type colour but regardless of the shade's name the colour is lovely, a warm neutral shade which for me is an easy to wear colour and of course it is subtle enough for work.

The nail varnish doesn't seem to have an overly strong smell to it which is great, I really do hate nail varnishes that have that horrible almost toxic smell but this hardly has any aroma at all. The applicator is a brush and is normal in shape but it picks up the liquid easily. The nail varnish itself has a decent consistency, it isn't runny or thin but it does seem a lot thicker than other nail varnishes I have used and this of course showed a little promise as there is nothing worse than putting coat on top of coat when trying to get a decent colour.

Obviously applying the Accessorize nail varnish is no different than applying any other! I always apply the first coat over a base coat which helps protect your nails but anyway back to the application! Because of its decent consistency it spreads nicely and evenly on the nail without running straight to the cuticles meaning you end up getting a much better finish. The colour on the first coat finishes in a matt colour which is just the same colour as the varnish in the bottle which is even better. The first coat dries really quickly and is touch dry within a matter of minutes.

You can easily get away with just one coat but for me I always apply a second coat and although it doesn't give the colour any more depth I feel that by having two coats means that the nail varnish will last longer as it will be stronger on the nail. I found that this nail varnish lasted for a good few days before it started to show signs of wear and chip which to be fair for the price I really can't complain especially when it is removed so easily and is applied quickly and dries in a matter of minutes. To remove I found that with even the most basic of nail varnish removers manage to remove all of this varnish will little issue making it great to apply as you don't have to worry about having issues removing it.

Overall, I found that this nail varnish is a great addition to my nail varnish collection as it really does do what I want it to and gives a lovely colour. I can't find any fault with the nail varnish at all and will definitely be buying a few more shades. Definitely a recommendation for those looking for a decent nail varnish without breaking the bank. 5 stars from me.
