Advantages: Doesn't break me out, Gives skin a healthy look, Light and natural coverage
Disadvantages: Glass bottle isnt very user-friendly, Salicylic acid might irritate sensitive skin, Not ideal for those who like heavier coverage
I have been using this foundation for almost a year now and I will never look back. My skin is a strange organ -- it likes to break out from all kinds of different things...FOUNDATIONS being one of them. But Almay Skin Stays Clean is the *only* foundation that has never made my face erupt into a pimply hell. It contains salicylic acid which helps gently exfoliate your skin and is oil-free, too. Since first buying from Walgreens in the U.S. last summer, I have purchased 2 other colours -- All of Almays foundations are yellow based (rather than the usual pink) because this is supposedly meant to mimic the natural tones of the skin better. My first was Sand which matched my tanned skin perfectly back then. I had to move on to Neutral for the winter (this was still a tiny bit too dark), and then onto Buff. Perfect match! I got these foundations from Boots (but am pretty sure you can get them from Superdrug and other chemists/drugstores aswell). They cost £8.99 each. The only thing Im not too keen on with this foundation is the packaging. It is in a glass bottle which gets extremely messy after a few weeks use (foundation gets caked into the grooves that the lid grips to), but this can easily be cleaned with some wet tissue or cotton wool really. However, it is very easy to spill this foundation! It is very "liquid-y" -- not like water, but I find it a lot runnier than most other liquid foundations. But that is both a good and bad thing in my opinion. Bad because of the risk of spills and good because of the coverage it gives - light to medium. You can layer this foundation to get the desired coverage. For me, though, I like to have natural looking and feeling makeup so I only apply one "coat". I really like the consistency of it for this very reason. It is so easy to blend and looks very natural - it also makes my skin so healthy looking because it is yellow based (not quite sure how that works but it does!). People have commented on ho
w good my skin looks when I am wearing this foundation :) I have heard from others that their skin couldnt tolerate the salicylic acid in this foundation. Its not high up in the list of ingredients but I think people with sensitive skin might have a problem with this foundation because of the salicylic acid (although some sensitive skinned folks have been just fine with it - its all down to the individual, I think). I think this foundation would be great for anyone with combination/oily skin - just like myself. As for the staying power, I think it last very well. I need to blot my face at lunch time but the foundation is still there, although I think it has faded a little (if I am completely honest!). But I still think it is a great foundation, though. I have tried others in between but I have always broken out from them after a couple of days use -- they feel too thick and heavy, too fragranced, too orange....I always go back to my Skin Stays Clean!

- 21/02/03 I didn't know you could still get foundation in glass bottles. Danger! |

- 21/02/03 Sounds like it could be good for me. I use Avon or Boots No7, but i have funny skin anyway and so, so dry around my nose. |
