Arabian Glow Cream Eyeshadow
Advantages: look nice on, shimmery, reflective, fairly long lasting, don't crease easily
Disadvantages: product doesn't transfer too easily to your skin, colour needs building up, availability
I liked the look of this little compact when I was browsing the Avon brochure a while back. I was disappointed when I realised it was cream eye shadows though as I think it would have made a lovely set of powder shadows and I think they look like powder eye shadows in the picture - the picture above is the same as the one in the Avon brochure.
Cream eye shadows are notorious for creasing and sliding off your eyelids, which is not a good look.
I got these cream eye shadows while they were reduced to about £2.00, but they cost around £6.00 normally.
They are part of Avon's Arabian Glow range which is a summery range, so the products are not currently available in the Avon brochure, but can be found on www.ebay.co.uk for around £4.00.
~ Appearance ~
The eye creams are set in a gold coloured plastic casing and the compact has a clear hinged lid with the word, Avon, across the front.
You can see the four eye creams through the lid - the colours are cream, gold, bronze and brown. You also get a double ended sponge tipped applicator with the eye cream quad.
The back of the compact has a gold sticker on which says, 'Arabian Glow Natural Shimmer'.
~ Use ~
The lid is easy to open. The cream eye shadows feel creamy. They feel a little bit like a lipstick feels only not as thick.
It doesn't feel right using a sponge tipped applicator with a creamy product like this as you feel like the applicator will be sticky and it feels quite unhygienic.
The cream does pick up onto the applicator or brush well.
It is a little bit more difficult to apply to your eyelids, not transferring to your skin as easily, but it isn't difficult to apply. It might just be that it looks quite thin on your eyelids initially. I like to build the colour up a little bit as it is quite translucent.
It is very reflective on your eyelids, but it does not make your skin look greasy.
The cream eye shadows have a bit of shimmer to them, but it can be quite difficult to notice this on your eyelids as they are rather reflective.
I think the effect that the cream eye shadow creates is really nice. I think it brightens your eyelids and helps to make your eyes stand out.
Being quite thin I don't find that these cream eye shadows crease or slide off your eyelids and the overall look achieved has been impressively long lasting compared to what I expected.
Your eye make-up will last around 8 hours before you need to top up or reapply, which I think is pretty good for a cream eye shadow.
If you are after a good set of cream eye shadows I would recommend these. They come in nice natural colours and look really good on your eyelids, without the usual worry of creasing or sliding.
Summary: I would never switch to cream shadows full time.
