Advantages: separates lashes, lengthens lashes, great comb idea
Disadvantages: doesn't give much colour, pricey
Ghostly Groom & Comb Your Lashes Don’t brush your lashes, comb them. I thought every one would be talking about this new mascara, made by Coty, but the search engines which are usually bombarded with info upon info just seem to churn out German results. Though I did manage to find one bit of info about this and that is the fact that it is only sold in selected Boots stores. This mascara isn’t made by a German company, it is a French one. Made in Paris to be exact. People just don’t know what they’re missing out on. I thought Max Factor More Lashes had it all, but I was badly mistaken after trying Astor Calligraphy Length & Separation Mascara for the first time. It works wonders for tired, stuck together lashes, kicks them back into action for a gorgeous separated look. I had just collected some photos I had processed at Boots, when I decided to skim the shelves after seeing an advert in the window for a price reduction on the new Astor mascara, which I had seen advertised on TV. I couldn’t wait to get one off ebay, so I quickly grabbed a black one off the shelf. The only other colours available were browns. The tube is slightly thinner and smaller than most mascaras. It comes in a long, thin black tube with a weird shaped head. It is only available in size 4ml. The good thing about it is that it is ophtalmologically tested, so it should be kind to eyes. I’m guessing that O word has something to do with eyes anyway lol. It is quite pricey at £7.95, but because they had only just come out, Boots were selling them at £5.95 each. That is still expensive for me, but I don’t treat myself much, so thought I would on that occasion. I guess you could say I brought some rather expensive photos that day hehe. I can’t use this on it’s own. It doesn’t give off that much colour. But it is great for separating lashes. You apply it via a comb in
stead of a brush. That’s a good idea I thought. On the tube it announces “High precision comb coats and stretches every lash from root to tip” Sounds a bit like combing your hair, if your hair was full of lashes lol. It feels strange when applying this. The comb is very small but very simple to use. I was scared incase it would hurt or pull out some lashes, but it works great. It doesn’t hurt at all unless you comb too hard. It adds black mascara as it combs through your lashes. You can truly feel your lashes being combed and separated. I only need to apply 1 coat and my lashes look divinely lengthened, but the colour isn’t too outstanding, so I only use this as a base to comb my lashes apart so they don’t stick together when using my other mascara. This mascara has been on the TV and advertised in Boots, yet no one seems to be talking about it. It isn’t selling on auctions so there will be no competition. But I definitely recommend this. Even if you don’t like too outrageous lashes, you will still benefit from this. Go on and give it a try. You’ll probably find it on ebay for a pound or something, so it’s not going to leave you out of pocket.

- 14/06/03 Great review, I had seen this product on TV, but was a bit hesitant to try it as I don't treat myself very often either, but I may well keep my eyes open (no pun intended!)for it on ebay now! Thanks :) |

- 14/06/03 Hi there, good review, I'd not seen this product before. It sounds interesting, but I like dark, lash-framed eyes so the lack of colour might put me off! :-) |

- 14/06/03 Superdrug also sells it. Sounds bad having to use 2 mascaras though. You would probably get the same effect by using a lash comb and then a good mascara. |
