Palette of eight eyeshadows.
Avon 8 in 1 Eyeshadow Palette.
Made in China.
10 grams and use within 24 months.
Comes in a slim black compact and arrives in a black box and wrapped in foam plastic paper.
The case has AVON written on the front and a clear window across the front to see the eyeshadow shades inside.
The lid pushes open and has a mirror in the lid. The eyeshadows come in oblongs and there are also two double ended foam applicators.
The ingredients are listed inside the cardboard box.
This season the 8 in 1 compacts come in two shades:
Nudes - shades of beige through to dark brown.
Metallics - bright shades such as green, yellow, blue silver, dark grey etc.
Full price is £12 but will be on sale for £6 in brochure 15 and probably will be on offer again before Christmas.
Even winter Avon usually bring out some of these compacts - as part of their seasonal range and to be sold as stocking fillers.
This year the compacts come in two shades - Nudes and Metallics.
Most years these come in two or three choices and personally the only ones I have ever bought are the ones that come with a range of brown and taupe shades - this season called Nude but the option is available each year but with a different title and a slight combination change of shades - but there is always one option with various shades of browns and beiges.
The compact itself is very slim and attractive. It is 4.5 inches by 0.5 inches and very shiny and sleek. I buy these compacts both for myself and also for one of my friends who has a Birthday in December and this makes a useful little gift.
I love the brown shades myself as they are so versatile.
The powder shadow is not metallic or glittery and when used looks very natural. The shades vary from light beige through taupes to mid browns and finally a dark chocolate brown. On is a slightly gold shade but definitely not sparkly. The little applicators are quite small so when t home I prefer to use my own long handled brushes. However if you carried this in your handbag for top ups during the day then the little applicators would work fine.
I find that the brown shades are very useful for most occasions. You can use the more subtle and lighter shades for general day to day use and then either apply a little more or use the darker shades for the evenings. The colours go on easily and last reasonably well - through if you wore them to work I would re-apply a little before the evening. Although the little blocks of eyeshadow are quite small, because you have eight to choose form then they do last for absolutely ages - and I tend to just get a new compact every year to have fresh new eyeshadows - rather than actually running out.
If you buy this compact when on special offer I think it is a great buy - either for yourself or as a gift. The sleek compact makes it look very appealing as a gift - and you cannot really go wrong if you buy the brown shades as most people use those at one time or another.
The Metallic selection would probably suit the younger person such as teenagers or people in their early twenties - or someone who was a bit more daring with their colour selection.
===Would I Recommend?===
I often buy things from my Avon catalogue as I like the connivance of browsing through their catalogue. I like trying different eye makeup so when I came across this eight piece eye shadow set I thought it would be a great way of trying out new colours without purchasing lots of single eye shadows. I have previously owned the quad version of this set and so when is a this version with 8 different shades I decided to give it a go.
The eye shadow
There are three different variations of colour available in these pallets from Avon. I chose the natural option as it is not often I wear more daring colours. There is a water colours which are brighter colours and paradise greens version available so you should be able to find an option you like. In the palette with whichever shades you choose have a variety of warmer and lighter colours. This means they are perfect for blending together, and there are enough shades to build up different looks with the one set. As there are a number of different shades the casing needs to last longer to keep up with the amount of time it will take to use all of the shades available. I have had no problems at all with this casing. I do find the mirror to be in an awkward place and this sometimes makes it difficult to find enough light to see my eyes properly. As I do not use this set away from home often this is not a huge problem for me.
The compact case is fairly simple but is built to last well. There is a small transparent window so that you can see what colours are inside. This would be perfect if I had purchased more than one shade so I could tell the difference without having to open them but as I hadn't it made no difference. There is a compact mirror in the case but it sits at the bottom of the casing under the transparent window. I rarely use this unless I am out as I find the mirror to small but it does come in handy. Again you receive two small applicators in this compact. They are useful for applying on the move, but I mainly use my eye shadow brushes to create a better finish. I paid around £8 for this set while it was on sale so it is worth waiting for an offer.
The eye shadows are very easy to use. The slightest stroke with my eye shadow brush the block of colour crumbles. There is not too much so that you waste the eye shadow by having to blow away excess every time, but my brush can pick up a fair amount of colour at one time. This makes for quicker application and the consistency is also perfect for blending. As it takes a moment or two to fully sink into the skin it can be blended easily until you get the finish you want. The colours are highly pigmented, but they are still natural colours so not over the top for day to day wear but they are noticeable. There are warmer colours that can create a smoky effect if you are using it for a night out so it is adaptable for different occasions. Some of the colours are a few tones up from the previous and I would have liked them to be a little more similar in colour so they blended better together. By using two or three of the colours I can create the look I want without it being over the top so it is not too bad at all.
It runs over my eyes easily and sits well all day without falling or creasing at all. I only need to use a small amount of this eye shadow and it shows on my eyes well. I do add two layers as I find the eye shadow lasts longer this way. Once I have finished blending the colour the eye shadow sits light on my eyes so I can just forget about it for the rest of the day. My eyes are very sensitive and I have no irritation at all to this eye shadow. What I love about these eye shadows is there are both shimmer shades and more matte shades. This means I can choose to use each one depending on what mood I am in. The shimmer shades do not leave lots of glitter on your eyes like others might, but it is notable on your eyes it catches the light well. This means I can wear it through the day casually, but it can also be used to wear in the evening if I am going out. You can build it up so it gives a more dramatic affect without it looking caked on your eyes.
The staying power is actually really good. The colour lasts all day and there is even a trace of it left when I come to remove my makeup in the evening. It does begin to fade after a few hours but a primer, or just adding an extra layer means it can last all day. It does not fall under my eyes, and it fades gradually so I do not need to worry about topping it up while I am getting on with my day. The range of colours are gorgeous they run from a gold colour through to a warmer brown colour. The shades in between match each other well so the one palette can be used for the one look. I do like most of the shades although 2 of the darker ones I am not too keen on. Overall six colours out of eight are not bad for the price I paid and they do last a long time. I purchased mine at the start of last year and I am only half way through the colours I use on a regular occasion.
I really love this eye shadow and for the amount I paid it has lasted a long time. The colours are all perfect to use on their own or mixed together. The eye shadow is the perfect consistency to transfer easily on to your skin, but it then sits light so you can just forget about it. It lasts all day even running around after four children and it can be built upon to create a more dramatic look if you wish. The range of colours available means anyone can find something to suit them and the price means it is a budget buy. I would recommend these eye shadows to anyone it is perfect for an adaptable kit.
If I wear eye shadow it is usually Neutral in colour so when I saw this palette in the Avon brochure I thought it would be ideal, giving a bit of variety. The palette comes in two options Neutral Tones or Smokey Eyes. I purchased both but so far have only used the Neutral Tones.
The eight eye shadows come in a sleek Black plastic compact with a clear panel in the lid through which you can see the colours. The compact has a good snap shut fastening and does not open randomly when searching through a makeup bag. Once open, there is a mirror on the inside of the lid which is ideal when on the go and there are two double ended sponge tipped applicators.
The colours vary from very light Beige through the spectrum to darker Browns and, with a bit of imagination, different effects can be achieved by using different shades together. Some are matt colours and some have a slight shimmer but are not glittery. The shadows are soft and easy to load onto an applicator or brush and apply evenly. They do feel very soft when applied and stay put for hours without creasing or bleeding. They do tend to produce rather a lot of excess dust when loading onto your applicator which then covers the other colours if not removed so I tend to gently blow this off which can be quite messy if not done in a suitable place. Unfortunately, although I have not used this very much some of the shadows have now started to break up in the compact and large chunks have fallen out.
As I mentioned this palette also comes in a Smoky Eyes option which contains colours such as Grey/Blue/Charcoal/Lilac/Purple as well as a light Beige and Brown.
The Normal price is £10.50 but I saw this in the Brochure recently at 2 for £12.00. As with all Avon products they are available to order through an Avon Representative free of delivery charges or from the Avon website where delivery charges of £3.50 (standard) or £5.50 (express) are charged.
This is a neat compact with a varied palette of easy to apply eye shadow in a range of colours/shades which are all usable even for quite conservative makeup wearers such as myself but disappointing in that some of the shadows have crumbled in the compact.
I've been on the hunt for a reasonably priced neutral eye shadow palette for a while now, so was very excited to see the 8 in 1 Eye Palette in my new Avon catalogue.
Normally priced at £10.50, the palette was on offer for only £5.50 so I jumped at the chance to buy it. The palette comes in 2 different shades - Neutral Tones and Smokey Eyes. I chose the Neutral Tones, although the Smokey Eyes has gorgeous colours too.
The packaging is very sleek looking; a slim shiny black case with a strip of plastic so all the shades of the eye shadows can be seen. Inside you find the 8 pressed powder eye shadows, a handy mirror on the lid of the palette and two double ended eye shadow applicators (so each eye shadow has its own side of an applicator). The mirror and slim packaging make this a great palette to keep in a makeup bag or when travelling.
All the shades are gorgeous. They range from a white/peach through to a dark chocolaty brown. All shades are lovely to wear on their own or with a few of the shades blended together. The colours are all very wearable and versatile. They are suitable for every day wear or can be made into a dramatic brown tone smokey eye for a night time look. Unlike other palettes I have had in the past, there is not one colour in there that I would not use.
When applied with a primer, the shadows lasted all day/night and there was no sight of smudging or creasing. Although I did find that the shadows did crease when used without a primer. The shadows are all very pigmented too so not a lot of product is needed with each application.
I would highly recommend this product as it is a great palette and the colours are very pretty and wearable. I think the offer that I bought this at was a bargain, although I think the usual selling price is slightly over priced.
This palate is amazing for eye shadows, there is amazing choice of colour so much to chose from that you almost do not know which one to chose from.
Each palate contains 8 shades which can be worn on their own or as a mixture of colours to give more of a look.
The eye shadow its self is very soft and very easy to apply it even comes with two different application brushes both double ended so there is nearly a brush end for each colour.
There are different colours avaliable but not that many the best being the nude colours. Hopefull Avon will introduce some new bolder colours as we go in to the summer this would then be the perfect palate and we can say goodbye to having loads of individual colours in our make up bags.
The packaging is all black and is very easy to spot in your make up bag and also looks very smart. It even makes a perfect present and every women should own one.
At £8 it is a real bargain compared to how much you would need to spend on rival brands.
Normally, when I buy an eyeshadow palette I tend to find I prefer one of the shades, and use it while virtually ignoring the others. With this palette I use every single shade on a regular basis.
About Avon: Avon first came to the fore when Avon Ladies dropped catalogues door to door and delivered products to your door. This is still common practice, but fortunately Avon's products are now available online too.
Avon Make Up: Having tried several Avon make up products over the years, I would recommend trying their eye make up but do not find their foundations to be particularly good. Avon bring out a new brochure monthly with different offers, so you will often get free gifts or reductions on make up.
Packaging: This 8 in 1 eyeshadow palette comes in simplistic but classy black packaging, which has a small clear window at the top so that all shades can be seen without having to open the palette. You get two small double ended eyeshadow applicators enclosed. There is a small mirror inside the lid, making it great for carrying around for touch ups.
Shade: The shade I have is 'neutral tones' which range from a light creamy shade graduating through some gorgeous bronzy shades to dark brown. According to make up artists these shades will highlight blue or green eyes. I find that I use this palette both day and night, using the lighter shades for day and the darker at night.
Result: These colours are fab, I have got many compliments on the eyeshadow and the way it brings out my blue eyes.
Would I recommend: Absolutely, well worth the price.
Where to buy and price: As mentioned above, this product is available from Avon Ladies or online. The palette cost me £8.
Great little compact, has everything you need for what's in it, I would personally put another eyeshadow brush in, there are two double sided ones so you have 8 applications, but I sometimes used the same side for two different shades.
I bought the smokey eyes pallette, which is the one shown in the picture and created some really good eye make up.
The shades are all similar, light creams to dark browns, so you can create smokey effect eyes, there's a mirror in the lid to check what you are doing, it;s perfect to put in your handbag!
Considering the price of a single eyeshadow is £5 from Avon, this is a great bargain as it is only £10 for 8! Even better is that sometimes they sell it at half price!
I would recommend this product, 8 eyeshadows in a little neat compact for a great price! A+
I bought this when it was cheaper than usual. Its normal price is £10 i think. To be honest I hate paying out for makeup but my usual brown eyeshadow was running low so i thought I might as well. The eyeshadow comes in a black plastic case with a small mirror in the lid and two eyeshadow applicators (which are better than most flimsy plastic ones you usually get with things like this) I am happy with this product. I'm usually quite boring when it comes to eye makeup. I wear it every day but i think Ive had the same colours since i was a teenager! These colours allowed me to play around a bit with different 'neutral' shades. There are 8 colours and they vary from a very light peachy colour to a rather dark brown and everything in between. Some are sparkly, some are more matte but used together you can either have a natural, everyday look, build it up for a 'lunch date' look or build on it again and go for the sultry, smokey eye evening look. There are loads of possible combinations and looks you can get from these eye shadows. You just need to know what to do with them
My mate gave me this palette of 8 eyeshadows from Avon because she didn't like the colours and couldn't be bothered to send it back. I'm the opposite and think the colours in this neutral tones palette are nice but the quality of the eyeshadow isn't very good.
They're pressed powder eyeshadows and you have to apply it quite thick to get any depth of colour. This palette has got quite a few pale tones and they don't show up very well, the palest peachy pink makes a good highlighter but the other pale ones aren't much good because when you put them on too thick they crease badly but if you put them on thinner the colour doesn't show up.
The idea of the palettes is that all the colours will blend with each other so you could create dozens of different looks from just these 8 colours. The colours do all compliment each other well but to be honest you couldn't mix and match all that much because none of the paler colours would look right together, and the browns could only really be matched with the palest peach.
It's supposed to be crease proof but it's not, most of the colours do crease quite badly and this doesn't take long after you've applied them. My mate thought it was because of her having quite greasy eyelids but I have very dry eyelids and it still ran into the creases of my eyes and I thought it started looking messy only an hour later. The pale colours fade quickly too and that's annoying because I hate having to reapply my eye make up through the day.
You get 2 sponge applicators with each palette and they're just standard, I'd rather use my eyeshadow brush for a smoother finish but the applicators would be ok as an emergency measure.
The palettes cost £10.00 and I'd feel robbed if I'd paid that because these arent very good eyeshadows and I expected better because I do usually like the Avon eyeshadows. As well as the neutral palette there is another called Smokey Eyes and that's blues, greys and purples.
After looking at the drastically empty and old contents of my makeup bag I decided that a full revamp was needed so I was delighted when my Avon book dropped through the door and started spending! This is one of the products which I chose.
The palette comes in a lovely black plastic case which has a clear rectangle at the top front which allows you to see some of the colours inside. There is a very faint Avon logo on the right hand side. The bottom of the case is black and has a small sticker in the middle with a few details about the product.
There are 8 eye shadows in the set which are all a variety of brown and natural colours. The colours start off with the lightest being on the left hand side and then they get slightly darker going from left to right and we end on the right with a very dark brown. I have noticed from using the set that the combinations can be mixed and in total you can have over 20 different colour varieties which I think is great value for money from just 8 colours.
Inside the case there are 2 small applicator brushes which are both double ended. I have used these but for me they are quite small and fiddly to use so I opt to use my own brushes and applicators. They are very soft and make the powder very easy to apply to the eye lid but just too small.
The shadows are pressed power and are very easy to apply to the eye lid. They do go on very smooth and spread easily. I have not found any problems with the application of these and they do not cause any creasing on the lid. With a brush they are very easy to blend as well. There is a small mirror on the inside of the case which can be used when applying the colours but I have found that it is just too small for me so don't bother. It would be good and handy if you were using product this on the go.
Personally I tend to go for three of the colours with a darker at the bottom and then gradually getting lighter as I move higher up the eye lid and for me it gives a nice subtle look which is not too overpowering. If you are going for amore dramatic look then this can also be achieved by using these colours and just not blending them so much when finished.
I have to say that I love this set and the colours really do last. For me I put mine on at 6am and by bedtime which is usually about 10.30 they are still nice and bright and look as though I have only just applied the colours. I do not find that they irritate my eyes at all and for me these are the best shadows which I have bought in such a long time.
I find that these shadows are very easy to remove and for me I use Baby Lotion and have had no problems with getting it all off. I cannot stand waking up in the morning and still finding bits of left over makeup in the creases on my lids but these do not do this and come off very easily.
~~PRICE AND AVAILABILITY~~
This set is made by Avon so is only available though them. You can get Avon from their catalogue if you have a representative in your area or you can order through their website. The palette comes in at £10 but at the moment it is on offer at just £6 which I feel is a great bargain for such a lot of colours which can be mixed and matched it a variety of ways.
Any regular readers of my reviews will be aware by now that I work as an Avon representative when my poor health allows, and have done so for a number of years now. This means that I have great access to any new products or ranges introduced to the Avon brochure, and I can take advantage of said offers to my heart's content!
I had been made aware of some recent new additions to the Avon make-up range, courtesy of my Representative flyers and paperwork. One new product that really caught my eye was the "8 in 1 Eye Palette" which is basically a palette of eight colours of eye shadow.
The cost of the Palette was only £8, which I did think offered brilliant value, given that Avon also sells a 'Quad' of four eye shadow shades which is available for the same price!
The 8 in 1 Palette is available in two shades - "Natural Tones" which is a mixture of earthy, brown shades, and "Smoky Eyes" which has slightly more vibrant shades, including lilac, silver, pink, charcoal, brown and grey amongst others.
For the purposes of this review, I will point out that the picture of the 8 in 1 eye shadow palette that is shown at the top of the Dooyoo page is in fact the "Natural Tones" shade.
I have been using the alternative shades - "Smokey Eyes", and this is the product that I am reviewing.
When the eye shadow palette arrived from Avon, my first impressions were very good. I was quite impressed with the packaging in particular. A black-coloured cardboard box contained the palette, which was wrapped in a little sheath of protective padded wrapping, to protect it from any bumps or scrapes whilst in transit.
Removing the palette from the packaging, I did think that the sleek, black design of the plastic casing was of a very high standard and looked similar to products from an alternative well-known top of the range brand of cosmetics and make-up.
I could see that the lid to the palette was of a fairly robust design, and wasn't going to fall apart after a few uses. I did also think that the two little (double ended) sponge applicators provided in the palette seemed to be of a fairly high quality also.
The eye shadow itself has impressed me so much that I have since ordered the alternative choice of shades and all other eye shadows that I own have been somewhat ignored as I work my way through all 16 colours contained in these palettes!
The Eye shadow is a high-quality pressed powder in design, and I do not find that it is overly sparkly nor is it overly matt... I do find that the balance is just right! The powder is not too loose that it is difficult to apply with a brush or applicator, and I personally find that the texture of the powder is of a very high quality which allows for a colourful, long- lasting finish.
I must point out too that these eye shadows are particularly good for blending together, and I have found that this is very easy to do. I do find that other eye shadows aren't quite as easy to achieve this technique with, so this was a very welcome bonus for me personally.
The eye shadows are all of a very, very high quality. This is obvious to me as I have discovered no creasing across my eye lid - which is a pet hate of mine - and I do also find that the eye shadow lasts on my eyelids for a very reasonable period of time. I wore this eye shadow on my recent holiday abroad, when the temperature was very hot and I did not have any experiences of the colour smudging or running at all, which is obviously a huge plus point!
I have also used the eye shadow when in a hurry and I found the results were great. On at least two or three occasions I had run out of time and simply smeared a little of the powder over my eyelid by dabbing it on with my fingertip. I found that the results were very good and I do not honestly think that anybody would have been able to tell that I hadn't applied it properly, by using a brush or applicator or something similar... I have tried this technique with other brands of eye shadow in the past with disastrous results and have had to stop and remove all traces of the eye shadow from my eye, abandoning the application process altogether.
Furthermore, I do find that the eye shadows can be 'teased' a little when applying. The charcoal grey coloured shadow for example, can be dabbed lightly along my eyelid for a subtle looking finish, or if I choose to apply it a little more thickly I can easily obtain a more dramatic end result... Another huge bonus for me!
All in all I would really highly recommend this palette. I think it offers great value and the choice of colours in each of the palettes offers a little something for all tastes and individual colourings to suit each skin tone. I cannot recommend it highly enough and it definitely deserves five colourful Dooyoo stars... I would be totally lost without mine now!
You can order the 8 in 1 eye palette directly from your Avon representative where the normal price is £8. If you do not have a local Rep, you can order it online from www.avonshop.co.uk.
It is worth noting that there are regular offers on the full range of Avon make-up, so I would recommend taking advantage of such an offer and really making your Avon order worthwhile! There are a variety of offers such as free gifts, or discounts when several products are ordered at the one time... This is worth bearing in mind as the Christmas season will soon be upon us!
