“ Brand: Avon / Type: Eyeliners / Suitable for: Eye „
Being an avon rep means that I have access to loads of new samples for the latest makeup and perfumes and for me a must have buy is the always on point eyeliner range. There is a variety of colours including black, grey and brown, so basically a colour to suit everyone.
Having sensitive eyes myself, I have always found ii difficulty to buy an eyeliner which doesnt make tears stream down my face or make my eyes bloodshot!I accidentally stumbled across avon always on point eyeliner in my special avon rep book and thought I would give it a go as it only cost £2.25 and it was honestly the best £2.25 I have ever spent! The eyeliner itself comes with a built in sharpener in the lid which sharpens the eyeliner with just a twist of the cap, a very useful feature and less messy than the conventional eye pencil sharpener. The eyeliner's texture is silky smooth and just the right texture for creating a perfect line on both lower and upper eyelid and one that doesn't smudge at that. The softness of the pencil means that the eyeliner just glides onto your eyelid with very little effort and no tugging or pulling on your skin. This means that there is no irritation caused to the eyes at all and the ease i is applied with is a complete dream especially for speed in the morning when rushing out the door to work! For me an important part of the always on point eyeliner is the fact that its longlasting. I have done ten hour shifts wearing the same eyeliner I had put on that morning, with virtually no difference in the lines. Although it can seem a bit pricey at the retail price of £7 just keep a look out as it usually does come on special offer for about £3.50. It has been a big seller for me with clients who want a lovely smooth eyeliner that wears well and lasts. The good thing is that it can be applied lightly for during the day and can also be used to create those sultry eyes for a night out.Whilst the quantity may be smaller than some eyeliners the quality of the eyeliner over rides this. A must have!
I like to wear eyeliner on my top lid but find that I have to use liquid eyeliner as my hand is never steady enough with a normal eyeliner pencil. When I came across this I loved the idea of the sharpener of the lid ensuring the pencil is always sharp each time you use it. I had enjoyed Avon's glimmer stick previously and so decided to give this a try to see if I could finally find an eyeliner stick that works as well as a liquid liner. I was very excited to try out a self sharpening eye liner so gave it a try as soon as it was delivered.
As the sharpener is in the lid as you would expect every time you open the liner it has a pointed tip. It has a twist top lid so every time you open it you are twisting the tip of the eye liner in the lid and sharpening it at the same time. I actually find this annoying as it is fiddly to open at times as it can be a little tight. It does work and I have never found the eye liner to be blunt which makes it perfect for quick application and can be carried around in your handbag with ease. The point is not sharp so it would be uncomfortable to apply, but a rounded point so it is ready to use instantly for clean lines.
The casing seems a little long for the amount of eyeliner it holds. The case is long and thin, but still comfortable enough to hold and apply easily. I do find there is less of the actual product than you would receive with a pencil, but because there is no messing about and one swipe is enough for a day's wear it lasts just as long. The consistency of the eye liner itself is softer than a pencil but not as soft as a Kohl pencil. I still find I am unable to use it on my top lids as it pulls too much, and my hand just is not steady enough to produce the lines that I want.
For bottom water lines it glides on like a dream and with one swipe across I find it leaves a satisfactory black line. It defines eyes easily without any pulling or tugging. It literally takes seconds to apply my eye liner which is always good for getting up and out in the morning. You can layer the eyeliner up for a little more intense look if you like, but as I mainly use it for day to day use I find one application is more than enough.
What I love is the staying power of this eyeliner. I find that even if I apply it in the morning when it comes to remove my makeup it is still visible. It does fade throughout the day, but not completely still leaving my eyes defined. I also found it smudges a little if I add too much it can fall beneath my eyes, but this is easily removed without any effort or fuss. It is also very easy to remove with a few wipes of a makeup cloth I find it comes away easily. Considering how hard wearing it is through the day I thought this was impressive.
I have hugely sensitive eyes which mean I usually use a kohl stick for my lower eyes as I just find eye liner too harsh. This is the perfect mix between the two. It is soft enough that it sits lightly on my eyes, but has the properties of an eye liner so it is long lasting. I have never had any irritation or the feeling that it was sitting too heavy on my eyes, and for that reason it has become one of my favorites.
This eyeliner retails at £7 but as with all Avon products you can often find it on offer. I purchased mine for £3.50 which I think is a fair price for an eye liner especially as it works so well. I purchased mine in black but it is available in other variations like teal, navy and grey so you can find one to suit your skin tone. I would highly recommend this eye liner. While it did not work for the purpose I hoped as a standard eye liner it is fantastic. It is soft on my sensitive eyes and I have finally found eyeliner that has both staying power, but does not make my eyes water at all.
When I read the words 'self-sharpening eyeliner' in my last Avon catalogue, I admit I was intrigued. Wondering how this could be possible, I ordered one from my Avon rep, encouraged by the half-price offer (regular price £7; currently on offer for £3.50). The Always On Point eyeliner from Avon is available in four colours (teal, lavender grey, midnight navy and black) and the principle behind it is that you close the screw-cap tightly, and when you open it again, the point of the liner has sharpened itself and is ready to use.
I was pretty curious to test this mechanism and put it to the test as soon as it arrived. You unscrew the cap and the tip of the liner (a soft pencil-type tip) is indeed sharp enough to apply to the lash-line. I found after use on one eye, however, that it wasn't as pointed as I'd like. So, following the instructions, I screwed the cap on tightly and then removed it again. Hey presto, sharpened tip! I admit to being pretty impressed with this, and can't pretend to understand how it works, as there don't seem to be any sharpenings anywhere (where do they go?!). This is great as sharpening eyeliners is a pain: it invariably makes a mess - plus I'm guaranteed to forget to pack a sharpener whenever I go away, so a self-sharpening eyeliner is really a great invention as far as I'm concerned.
As Avon claims, this is indeed a "creamy, smooth liner [that] stays colour-true". I purchased the Lavender Grey shade which I think goes well with my colouring (green eyes, pale skin), and the colour stays true until removal. The liner isn't waterproof but it does stay put all day, unless I rub my eyes, obviously. It comes off easily, using my regular eye make-up remover on cotton wool pads.
The current Avon catalogue compares this liner to the Smashbox Limitless Eyeliner, a premium brand product priced at £14. I've not tried the Smashbox liner, but as the Avon one works for me and is such a good price, I really don't feel tempted!
The only slight gripe I have with this product is that I'd like the pointed part of the liner to be slightly longer. As it is, I have to hold the liner at 90 degrees from my eye to apply it, whereas if it were longer, I could hold it at more of an angle, which would be more comfortable. Still, it's not a major issue as I'm able to apply it properly as it is and may actually buy another colour to try, but it has lost the product one star from me.
Available from www.avonshop.co.uk (although Lavender Grey doesn't seem to be listed at the moment) or from an Avon sales representative.
Overall, an excellent eyeliner: great price (even when not on offer, the price isn't bad), super performance, nice colour.
