      Lip Plumping & Conditioning Stick

      The Product
      = = = = = = =
The product I am reviewing is by Avon and is a lip plumping conditioner stick. The stick claims to restore a youthful looking appearance and see plumper, fuller lips. This product has double the retinol to boost collagen renewal. I wasn't too sure whether this product would actually work or not but as it was on offer in an Avon book my sister gave me I decided to give it a try to see how good it was it. This product has fairly good reviews on the website. The product comes in a box and it states that the product is part of the ANEW range. The box is white in colour and it clearly states on the front what the product is. On the back and side of the box you will find a list of ingredients which is in lots of different languages. The actual stick comes in what looks like lipstick packaging. The actual packaging which holds the stick is a shimmering white colour. The lid comes off to reveal the actual product which is the conditioning stick. The stick itself is a light pinkish colour. The product is available to purchase from Avon catalogues and from their online shop. The full price of this product is £9.00 which does seem very expensive, which is why I was hoping that this product would work.

      Using the Product
      = = = = = = = = =
I always have a habit of smelling products before I use them. This is probably a habit from writing reviews. The product did have a smell to it which I can't really describe. It smelt pleasant and also a little sweet. The product was easy to apply due to the shape of the actual stick which is a similar shape to a lipstick. As I applied this I expected my lips to feel a little tingly, how-ever I noticed that this feeling came a few minutes after applying the product. The tingling sensation wasn't that strong and I could only feel it slightly and it was gone within a minute or so. The product left my lips looking really moisturised and they had a slight shimmer to them as well. Although the product had a scent to it once it was applied to my lips it didn't taste of anything. I did need to apply this again a few times during the day, obviously after eating and drinking. In terms of making my lips plumper I couldn't see any difference, how-ever perhaps lips are meant to appear plumper over a few uses of this product. I would see if it made any difference to my lips after regular use of the product. I have been using the product for over 1 week now and I haven't noticed any difference in my lips getting any plumper or fuller. The condition of my lips has improved though and they have become softer and more moisturised.

      Overall Opinion
      = = = = = = =
This product definitely doesn't plump up my lips as claimed and I don't think they looked any fuller. In terms of conditioning and moisturising the stick does a really good job and leaves my lips feeling really soft and smooth. I like the slight sheen the stick gives to my lips and it leaves them looking and feeling conditioned all day. In terms of value for money as this doesn't actually plump the lips and make them fuller I think the product is a little pricey for something that just conditions them as there are plenty of products like this available to buy from stores such as Boots and other high street stores. I will be finishing the product off but I don't think I will be purchasing it again as I think there are just as good products that moisturise and condition your lips available to buy that are much cheaper.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

An expensive flawed lip plumper, but good conditioner and Sun protector.

      The Product ~ 'Plump Up'

The product comes in the same format of general lipsticks on the market; with the casing being no different with its pop off lid and twists mechanism to higher or lower the contents. This Anew range in a 7 ½ cm soft off white sheen outer cover has a classic design of a 1 cm gold mid section rim that separates the two portions of contents and lid. Adorned with a sculptured 'ANEW' in MS UI Gothic font on the gold belt, completes the high quality appearance. The lipstick has a subtle pleasantly sweet fragrance. With just over 2 ½ cm in length, the plumping stick affords longer usage. The tip of the light fawn coloured stick is tapered at an angle to afford easier application.

      Usage Experience ~ 'Lip Service'

I did not purchase this for the company's promise of making 'lips look plumper'! My lips are of mid thickness and so the 'plumping' benefits, for my personal taste, aren't important. I bought the product for two reasons, to help my lips 'feel moisturised' and because the product contains 'SPF15'. 'SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor...a sunscreen with an SPF of 15 filters 92% of the UVB. Put another way, a sunscreen with an SPF of 15 will delay the onset of sunburn in a person who would otherwise burn in 10 minutes to burn in 150 minutes. The SPF 15 sunscreen allows a person to stay out in the sun 15 times longer' {http://dermatology.about.com/cs/skincareproducts/a/spf.htm Therefore, this lip balm would complement my other sun protection facial products. As the product contains 'retinol and collagen known to help' the 'plumping' effects, it needs to be applied with care, irrespective of reasons for purchase!

      1) Before applying any cosmetics, I always wash my hands thoroughly. Although the product can be applied straight onto my lips without touching the contents, because I tend to use my fingers to remove overlaps in usage, the hygiene routine is necessary.

      2) There are no other requirements on the preparation or application front other than simply using the applicator's wand to spread gently and evenly over the lip areas.

      3) I generally extend the wand to a 1/3 of its length. Then, with the magnifying side of my mirror held parallel toward my face, I begin applying the product. I start at the left side of my lower lip, slightly away from the edges, with the angled slant of the wand against the lip surface. The lipstick spreads easily and softly along, with immediate moisturising effects. I notice a faint glossy pearliest sheen instantly. I continue to apply the balm, topping up areas a little closer to the edges after the initial coating.

      4) I then perform the same method to my top lip. Although the contents feel smooth, unfortunately, the substance leaves my lips feeling very greasy. This flawed effect eliminates the advantages of secondary applications.

      5) I find that using this formula with lip rouge isn't an option due to the unctuous conditioner. Any excess needs to be carefully wiped off with a soft absorbent tissue.

      Results ~ 'Lip Reading'

As a 'lip plumper', I cannot detect noticeable effects. The 'dual plumping with retinol and collagen known to help minimise wrinkles...consumer study of 155 people' simply isn't apparent to me! Even although Avon informs that, 'All cosmetic product results are achieved with continual use', I still do not detect a difference after months of regular usage. Thankfully, as noted in my opening paragraph, I did not purchase the product for this particular reason. As a 'lip conditioner', the product stands a good 6/10. The moisturizing effects stay on around two to three hours. But, if I eat or drink during the time of wearing the lipstick, this does diminish the conditioning effects to a degree. As a sun shield, I can only assume that the contents are effective as I do not have the technical means to prove otherwise!

Would I Recommend? ~ 'A foolish man tells a woman to stop talking, but a wise man tells her that her mouth is extremely beautiful when her lips are closed'!

Yes as a moisturizer and Sun protection, but not as a plumping agent! In Avon's consumer study of a 155 people, the company found it helped to 'minimise wrinkles', which would be the effect from a plumping action. But, for me, I did not observe this in my personal usage, not even after considerable time of using the product. As a moisturizer, it is certainly effective if a little too greasy on initial application. I would not recommend paying the full price of the product, but on offer, it would be a practical item to have handy for both summer seasons, where the skin can suffer from dehydration and against the Sun's rays. For winter, I find the moisturizing effects of the balm particularly welcome.

The Avon Anew Lip Plumping Lip Conditioner is available in the company's current campaign brochure, no 15 on page 74, for £9.00 which is available from local Avon representatives. The product can also be purchased online at http://www.avon.uk.com

Thank you for taking the time to read my review, i hope that it has been beneficial :~) xXx

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Leaves your lips soft and smooth!

A friend of mine gave this to me and I have been using it like crazy this summer. However, I did not realise it was a lip plumping and collagen conditioner, I just thought it was a normal lipstick. I am a young woman so would not have bought this if I had known as I do not need to 'restore a youthful looking appearance' just yet! During the time I used it I did not notice any tingling sensation in my lips as is normal for a lip plumper and I did not notice any difference in my lips. It did not plump them at all but it did keep them really soft and moisturised. I rushed to take this off my friend as I have been looking for the perfect nude shade but have never been able to find it, but this is perfect! It is not too brown yet not too pink either, just the perfect shade in between! I would definitely recommend this if you want a good nude shade! I will keep using this as just a normal lipstick even though it isn't, however it is quite expensive at £9.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

This is a wonderful softening lip primer, but the plumping effect isn't dramatic

Firstly, I was impressed by the lovely smell of this lip conditioner. It's sweet and clean and slightly almondy. The conditioner itself feels soft on application and helps to fill in the lip lines to make your lips look a little fuller. This isn't a miracle plumper, however. The difference is very, very slight, but then again, the lip plumpers that I have found to have the most dramatic results are also ridiculously painful. I think this is a classic case of having to take your pick - running for the painkillers and avoiding kissing strangers; or an effect so slight that you wonder whether it is worth it.

This is, however, a wonderful primer. It's a solid block of colour, applies smoothly, leaves your lips soft, and above all, doesn't go smeary or cloggy when you put lipstick over the top. I would even go as far as to suggest that it is a very good nude lip colour and doesn't need lipstick on top.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        A nice little lipstick

I often buy my cosmetics from Avon as I find it the easiest way to be able to sit and take time to choose something I want with 3 small children. My lips are always drying out and I use Vaseline for them but when I read through the Avon book I thought maybe this could be a little more glamorous way to keep my lips moisturised. It comes in just one shade which is nude and it says that it plumps lips by adding moisture so it sounded perfect for my dry lips. So I ordered from my Avon rep and within a week she returned with my new lipstick.

Eager to try it I opened the box it came in and found a white and gold applicator I took the lid of to find a lovely nude colour stick of lip colour. I added a coat to my lips very easily it spread and filled my whole lips easy. As soon as I applied I noticed a tingling sensation. Upon inspecting my lips in the mirror as it was a nude colour there was a shine to my lips but nothing more. My lips did feel moist but not what I was expecting it still felt like a lipstick but had more of a gloss feel to it. It remained on my lips for around 2 hours before I needed to reapply by about 10 minutes the tingling feeling wears off but each and every time I re apply it without fail it returns.

The anew plumping stick is good for a little more glamour for your lips to be moisturised. I'm not sure if it plumps but it certainly tingles my lips a little and makes them a little more moist but not as much as Vaseline helps moisturise them. I like to use this when I am going out for the evening and fancy something a little more discreet. I believe it costs around £7 but as usual it is often of offer at Avon. I brought mine for £3.50 I believe which is good value for money in my opinion.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          A really dissapointing avon product

I am a little bit of a beauty and cosmetic junkie and I absolutely dread anyone giving me their avon book to look through as I know I will end up ordering a small fortune worth of products from it.
I have a problem with avon in that some of their products I find to be fantastic and others I find to be no more effective than something my children could whip up in the garden.

The anew range of products are a range that I find to be hit and miss with me sometimes instantly falling in love one product in the range whilst being dissapointed with another.
I bought the anew lip plumping conditioner a little while ago now as it promised to make my lips look more plump and let's be honest who doesn't want bigger fuller lips.

It comes in a traditional lipstick casing and is white and gold in colour and to be honest this was off putting immediately as I thought it looked a little old fashioned and something my grandmother would use. I didn't let it put me off completely though and knowing looks can be deceiving I looked forward to trying it convinced as I usually am that it was going to work wonders.

It contains retanol which is supposed to double collegan production and in turn plump your lips. Well I can honestly say that I didn't notice the slightest difference in my lips and it didn't even give a temporary fullness like some other products I have used. It is basically a chap stick and at £8.50 an expensive one.
It does condition nicely and felt nice on my lips but no nicer than a lipsel and I found it didn't really last any longer than a lipsel would either.

Anew lip plumping conditioner is definately not something I would ever recommend to someone else due to the fact it not only doesn't work but it is too expensive for a basic lip balm which is all it is really.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

I really don't understand why other people have not been impressed with this product.I bought this lip conditioner as a treat for myself and I absolutely love it! My lips feel very soft and silky, the usual dryness is gone and they do actually look and feel noticeably younger. I can't feel the tingling if I wear it during the day and I'm busy and distracted, but if I put it on at night - as a conditioner - then I can feel the slight tingling.I'm not an expert on products like this because I haven't 'tried them all', and to be honest, I won't be looking around for any other lip-conditioning product, as I'm more than happy with this one. Its really lovely. (Must admit, I wish I had known you could buy it off amazon for +/- £1.25 instead of paying £8.50 through Avon...)

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Yuch

I tried this as it was a good alternative to my usual lip lift by Gale hayman. However I was bitterly disappointed.
When I first put it on my lips it felt very gritty and grainy and not silky at all.
It didn't plump my lips at all and only slightly moisturised them.
After an hour it had completly gone and after one drink it also went.
It would have made a good base for lipsticks if not for the texture.
Although it was a lot cheaper than some similar products on the market I felt it was not worth the money and hated it so much i threw it in the bin.
the only positive to this product was the price.
Sorry Avon, when you get right, it's really right, but when you get wrong, its too wrong.
I will be returning to gale Hayman, it's worth the extra money in my book.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Does not really pump the lips it just tingles

Ok so I quite like this product but it did not really work like it was suppose to do.

In the end I guess I just liked the colour of this product it was a pretty nude colour and made your look very natural it did not make the lips any fuller or pumped up.
However your lips do have a sensation of tingling but no real difference.

This product comes in a white lip stick container and the lip stick is a nude colour.

The shape of the lip stick is slightly curved and is smoothly applied on the lips and gives a flawless colour.

The lip conditioning formula helps hydrate the lips so in that way it does improve your lip condition it just does not make the lips pumped up and full. Which is a shame as this would be perfect if it worked.

So as a lip conditioner this product is perfect as for anything else it does not work. I would not buy this product if you are after a pumping lip stick, I would only buy this if you like the colour and the fact it conditions the lips.

          This product costs about £5.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

It's definitely worth a try, just wait until it's on offer!

I absolutely love this product but I have to say - it is a little on the expensive side. Every few months it goes on offer at a slightly cheaper price so I tend to stock up then rather than pay £8.50 as I do go through it quite fast! I'd definitely agree with the 'lip conditioner' part of the product name as some similar products feel like they are just sitting on the surface rather than sinking in to your lips and actually moisturising them, whereas you can feel the difference with this product. I'm not as sure about the 'lip plumping' though as there is no tingling sensation when it's applied and I've learnt over the years that tingling means plumping! My lips are reasonably full anyway so it's difficult to judge whether this product has made a difference in that department. Overall, it's very moisturising without being at all greasy and it gives a lovely subtle sheen to the lips. The packaging is very classy and looks more like a lipstick than a lip conditioner.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

Better as a conditioner than a stand alone plumper

Unlike the other reviewers I actually really like this product but not as a plumper, I've always used it as a conditioner and have done for years, as it used to be simply called lip conditioner.

The creamyness of the conditioner is fantastic for dry lips, nothing seems to beat it in my opinion, it soothes, protects and nourishes.

The colour of the conditioner is designed to be worn underneath another colour, it's not designed as a stand alone gloss or plumper, nor sold as such.

I also like the smell of it, and the way it works as a good line filling base to give your lips a solid, and healthy look when worn under lipstick.

If you're looking for a plumper then I wouldn't say this is the best, but as a lip conditioner or balm I think it works very well, and would suggest others to try it for themselves.

I keep mine in the fridge as I find the product softens very easily.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            A nice plumper.

I've been an Avon fan for many years, until recently when I decided things like Lush and B Never 2 Busy were much better quality and more morally pleasing.

One of the last things I bought from Avon was Avon Anew Beauty Lip Plumping Lip Conditioner.

The first thing I noticed when I recieved this was it's packaging - it looks classy, classic and mature (it is meant for the older lady,as far as I'm aware, which may be why...)

I like my cosmetics to look classy, and not like lipgloss that's came out of Sugar magazine or some similar Teen-mag.
The gold and silvery-white casing on this is just perfect.

I found that, applied on it's own,it didn't glide on as smoothly as I would have liked. So,I mixed it with a little of my usual lipgloss and rubbed in.
Right off, that set alarm bells ringing - I shouldn't have to add ANOTHER lipgloss to make it work, surely?

On it's own,it's nothing special - it makes your lips look a little fuller, but not much more so than a cheaper one from another range would.

I was quite disapointed in it,and felt it didn't live up to it's description.

Overall, though, the packaging is the best thing about it.
