Advantages: Lovely summery colours

Disadvantages: Waxy appearance as 3 coats are needed

I must admit my nails aren't the best. After having false nails extensions in the past, I am now stuck with weak nails that will only grow to a certain length without snapping. Due to these side effects of the extensions, I have decided to give the natural nails a go to help restore the condition and the strength of them. I hate having my nails plain and love the look of bright summery colours on shorter nails. I was on the look out for a good varnish and decided to order out of my Avon brochure. I decided on the Arabian glow speed dry version in teal waters.

The description:

The nail varnish came in a bronze box, which contains all of the relevant information and instructions on the back. The nail polish is in a glass bottle with a bronze lid.

The product:

The nail enamel has quite a strong smell to it when applying, which to be honest I don't mind as I quite like the smell of nail varnish. Once I began to apply the varnish I noticed that it was very thin and practically translucent, I knew at this point that one coat would definitely not be enough to provide a good coverage. The polish dries rather quickly although even after the second coat I could still see the shape of my nail underneath. After 3 coats the nail varnish looked lovely and shimmery. It looked like a light mint colour. Due to having to use 3 coats of the polish, the varnish felt almost waxy on my nails, this meant that any knocks to the nail caused a ridge through the polish however, it didn't seem to chip on the ends like others I have tried.

The price:

The price of this polish is £5.00 although you will be able to pick it up in the Avon promotions that occur regularly. I would normally pay around this price for a good nail varnish, so this price is good for me.

Overall:

I absolutely love the teal waters coloured varnish but I think after 3 coats and a waxy end feel, I would rather purchase another brand that only needs to be applied once or twice to leave a smooth finish. It is a shame as I feel that the varnish has great potential to be very popular if a few changes were made to help strengthen it. A waxy feel is no good when washing dishes and using scourers as ridges are made through the nail. I would recommend this varnish if you were to use it as a fashion colour and change it regularly. If you are wanting something to last a good few days then this isn't for you.

Summary: I do love these colours but the varnish is too thin and needs many coats
