I actually received this Avon sheer lip gloss with jojoba as part of a birthday present from a friend who had bought me a lovely make up bag and had filled it with various mini products. It is sheer so it just gives you a shiny glossy look to your lips which I like as you can wear it on its own or on top of other lipstick. The tube is pink and has a small screw top which you do have to keep a good hold of especially with this smaller size as it would be easy to lose if it rolled too much.
There is no applicator with this but it has a slanted top which is easy to angle against your lips and to use you just need to squeeze it very gently against your lips. I will usually put the tube in the centre of my lips and then when the gloss is coming out to move it across from side to side. I find that I often only have to apply it to my bottom lip and then rub my lips together which distributes it to the top. The downside is that you don’t have the accuracy that you get with an applicator so if you are looking for a precise line then you won’t get it with this, but it is okay for me and I am happy with the way I apply it.
When you first take the lid off it does smell very sweet and it also tastes sweet when you first apply it, however this does wear off. I was surprised at how sticky it felt when I first put it on and I was expecting it to sort of set or dry, but it didn’t really and I was constantly aware of the fact that my lips were a bit sticky but this wears off after a while. It does look very shiny and glossy when it is on and I use this one a lot and carry it around in my handbag. It lasts a long time on my lips so it is good value at £2.25 which is the recommended retail price.
I am one of those people who has about 10 - 15 different lipsticks, lipglosses, tubs, tins, sticks, you name it I've got it. I find my lips get dry really quickly (more so in these winter months!) and I really hate not having some kind of moisturiser in my bag/car/bedside table etc lol. I also have a little cosmetic purse with all kinds of glosses in it and this is one of them.
The lipgloss comes in a 10ml pink tube with a blue screw top lid. Underneath the lid, the applicator for the gloss is slanted, and has a small hole through which you can extract the product with a gentle squeeze and also apply it straight to the lips. I am not a big fan of these type of applicators if I am honest and usually avoid them but I remember this being on offer in the clearance section (in one of those pamphlets you often get with a Avon brochure) for only £1 so decided to give it a go.
The gloss is a decent gloss, which is not overly runny but does have the tendency to leak outside the lip line if it is squeezed too much during application and too much has come out. As a result, on a number of occasions I have had to wipe around so my lips don't look like they have been dipped in grease! Nevertheless, it is not sticky or thick on the lips and does leave has a slight pink tint to it, but I must say this can not be seen once it is actually applied to the lips. It lasts quite long so means I don't have to keep dipping in my pocket to re-apply it which is a bonus for me and my trout pout lol.
The selling point for Avon on this product is the jojoba oil ingredient. It's meant to be beneficial in helping chapped lips, and whilst I did not buy this product for this in mind (I have Carmex for that!) I did find it was soothing on my lips and since it prevents them from drying out - it thus inadvertently prevents my lips becoming chapped. So a big thumbs up on this one for me!
Overall this is a pretty decent lipgloss, to give my lips a little sheen and prevent them drying out and looking all chapped and flaky. Sadly I think this is now discontinued as I haven't seen it in the brochure for a while, nor is it available online. I hope it comes back as I would definitely buy it again, although probably at the clearance price of 99p as for any cost more than this, you can get something equivalently as good (and probably would last longer) from Superdrug.
I don't usually use lip gloss as I prefer lip balm but I saw this on offer for £1 and thought why not?!
The lip gloss is to be applied as it is, via the tube. The tube has a slanted lid which allows the gloss to flow freely across your lips. The lip gloss dispenses from the tube easily - you just have to give it a gentle squeeze. Don't squeeze the tube too hard as you will reveal too much gloss - less is more with this! The lip gloss is a 10ml sized tube so it should last you a while. It's a pale pink shade that would suit most, if not all, skin types and shades. It looks nice on pale skin as it adds a little warmth to your complexion.
The lip gloss tastes nice. It has a pleasant scent to it that smells quite sweet and uplifting. The gloss is a decent consistency. It has a soft creamy texture that feels lovely on the lips. The gloss gives your lips a lovely sheen and it makes them appear plumped. I would say it makes them appear somewhat younger too. The lip gloss can be applied to sore and/ or chapped lips as it contains moisturising ingredients. The gloss is like a big drink for thirsty lips.
The gloss is quite long lasting. It stands food and drink and it doesn't need to be re applied all that often. It's a perfect size for your handbag and it doesn't leak from it's tube. I love the pink and blue packaging too!
The gloss is petroleum free so it wouldn't dry out the lips and it's great value too, why not try a tube?
*Why I want the product*
Lip products and me go hand in hand together, if I see it I want it. My lips are always calling out for a lip product anyway as they can get so dry in any seasons.
There isn't many lip products on the market that have lovely moisturising properties with a gloss at the same time. Normally it is one or the other and if they do contain both you are likely to be left with dry lips due to the gloss drying the lips out.
*About the product*
Upon getting an Avon catalogue through the door and having a quick browse I came across their lip balm/gloss called Care Sheer Gloss Lip Tint with Jojoba Oil.
Avon has described this gloss as none sticky, which helps to hydrate your lips with Jojoba Oil, while providing incredible shine with a tint of pink.
This product's packaging has changed since the picture on Dooyoo above. Now it comes in a shiny plastic squeezable yet sturdy 10ml tube. The front looks delicate with rose pink flower detailing at the bottom and a rose pink stripe going across the middle. The screw off lid is navy in colour and contrasts well with the design of the tube.
I am not to keen on Avon not including ingredients on the back of the packaging.
*Applying the product*
When I purchased Sheer Gloss I was unsure whether I made the right decision or not because I got it for a low price there is always something on the back of my mind if it works or not and a waste of money even if I did get it for £1.
Receiving my product I wanted to try it straight away and see if the product lives up to its claims and if my faith had been restored.
Squeezing a little product out I was surprised to see the product came out clear even though Avon say it has a light pink tint to it, but it did seem very light in texture. Applying a small amount to my fingers it was a little runny and I was worried this would mean once on it would bleed to the surrounding skin.
Applying to my lips it felt lovely, it feels light, delicate, and soft with incredible shine with a slight hint of sweetness, which smells like a delicate flower and there was a soft pink tint that happens when contact with the skin has occurred.
*How it works*
Sheer Gloss has a wonderful ingredient called Jojoba Oil. Jojoba Oil is a fantastic essential oil that is wonderful for moisturising and locking in moisture. It is also used widely to help heal sores and wounds.
*Price and availability*
In the catalogue I received it was marked down as £1 compared to their original price of £3.20.
As of 29th March Avon have this product on offer with purchase this product and choose one free on selected items.
*What I think about it/do I like it*
Such a small amount of product is needed and anymore than this can cause bleeding. This product doesn't feel sticky in anyway what so ever, in fact it feels so light on the lips you forget it is there.
After hours of wear my lips are still left soft.
Like any gloss there is a lot of transfer when drinking and eating, however even though the gloss has been transferred off there is still a small amount of product left on the lips to keep them protected and shiny.
Although Jojoba Oil is included in Sheer Gloss Avon doesn't sate how much is included.
I think the gloss is a lovely part of this product and really is high shine. On the lips it looks fantastic if you are dressing down with a tee shirt and jeans, you're makeup will also look polished.
This Sheer Gloss will look fantastic in the summer for a natural polished look.
*Would I purchase again*
Yes I would, it is a lovely high gloss with moisturising properties that doesn't actually dry out my lips unlike other lip moisturising glosses.
Because you need so little product a 10ml tube will last you a long time and at £3.20 full price it won't break the bank.
AVON CARE SHEER LIP GLOSS WITH JOJOBA OIL
This is a little pink tube of lip gloss from the Avon Care range. It is described in the brochure as:
"No more chapped lips with this ultra caring gloss with a hint of pink tint"
I have just ran out of this so am ordering some more. This is the main part of my make up and beauty routine, and I use it so often and it is such a beauty hero for me that I can't believe I haven't reviewed it yet.
Well, better late than never so here goes...
At normally £3 and currently under an offer of 'buy one get one free' I don't think this is too expensive at all.
You can order this from your Avon representative or online at the Avon website if you don't have a representative.
*DOES IT WORK?*
This is supposed to look after your lips and stop them going chapped, and because it has a pink tint to it, they won't look bare either.
The pink tint to it isn't just a hint as the brochure describes it, I would say it is more of a full on pink colour. Nothing bad about that, though - I really love the way it looks on my lips. It is pink and very shiny.
Since using this I have never had dry or chapped lips. So it definitely works, and very well, too.
There is only 10ml in the tube but it is a handy size and I carry it around in my pocket with me nearly all the time.
I definitely recommend this, I am now starting to call it my beauty hero because I love it so much. The only problem is sometimes my hair sticks to it if I'm wearing my hair down, as I have quite long hair.
I always keep an eye on the Avon website to see what exciting deals they have going each month, and a few weeks ago I was pleased to see this Sheer Lip Gloss with Jojoba Oil selling for just £1 instead of the usual £3. The lip gloss is part of the Avon Care range which also includes face creams, hand creams and body creams, and the range often has special offers within it.
The tube of lip gloss comes in a small pink cardboard box. The tube itself is also pink, with a blue lid and a blue Avon logo on it. It is very cute and girly looking. When you unscrew the lid, you find a slanted applicator which is very similar to the Lancome Juicy Tubes applicator. You squeeze the tube and a small amount of the gloss comes out, which you can then easily smooth onto your lips with the applicator.
The gloss looks really lovely when applied. It has a hint of pink which is enough to even out your lip colour and give your lips a glow but probably not enough to interfere with any other lipstick you may have on underneath. It gives a nice shiny look but is not too unnatural looking.
The gloss stays on quite well and I don't have to re-apply it too often. It can stay put through drinking and even eating to a certain extent which is impressive, but it can't withstand any kissing unfortunately. Not many lip glosses can though!
The lip gloss feels nice on my lips and is quite conditioning, which is probably due to the jojoba oil. It is not as moisturising as Vaseline or Carmex but it is better than most other glosses I have tried and doesn't dry my lips out.
The only thing I have to say against it is that sometimes as it is wearing off it tends to go a little bit 'bitty' and I feel like I have very fine grit on my lips which is not too good.
I am very pleased with the lip gloss in general and will definitely buy some more once this tube has been used up. It gives me lovely pink shiny lips and it's not too expensive, especially when on offer, so there's not much to complain about really!
I think this is fantasic value for money.
I use various lipglosses most days and find that I keep going back to the Avon care one. I think this is because it doesn't feel sticky or gooey when it is applied, instead coating your lips with a sheer balm, with just the tiniest hint of pink.
I find that this product is ideal for popping into my handbag for a night out or a daytrip, as it is an ideal size. In the winter months particularly, my lips are soft and moisturised, without any stickiness.
Avon often do "deals" on the this range, with some products on a 3 for £5 offer. I try to stock up on these products when such offers are on, as you can really make some great savings!
Even without any offers though, I think the gloss is still a fair price at around 3 or 4 pounds.
I love the tube design of the gloss because it means you can squeeze out any last bits, wasting as little as possible.
I popped one of these into a birthday present recently and now have a converted friend who loves this, whereas before she was a "clinique" girl! She's chuffed because this product is a fraction of the price!
I'd recommend it to all lipgloss lovers out there!
I can never resist a bargain, so when I spied this lip gloss in the Avon catalogue for the wonderful price of 99p instead of £3, I snatched it up.
I have had a very on and off relationship with lip glosses, as if they are too sticky and thick or full of flavour then I don't get on with them very well and I end up discarding them to the back of my drawers to be thrown away months later.
I knew this gloss was going to be in the squeezy tube variety rather than a roll on, or a pot. To be honest the tube version is usually what I prefer as I find you get a better coverage on your lips.
The lip gloss is designed in a contrasting pink and blue colouring, which actually works well. It does actually give your lips a hint of pink so the packaging is designed well with this in mind.
Avon claim the product will help chapped lips as well as making your lips shine and feel good.
I like the way the lip applicator is slated to make application easier, however I found with this lip gloss that small traces of the excess would hover around the edges of the applicator. This was fine if you remembered to apply the excess at the same time, but it's not nice to go back a couple of hours later when you want some more to find "old" product waiting for you.
The gloss itself is a nice shade of pink and this doesn't appear to transfer to your lips when you first apply. It looks like a sheer gloss instead which is nice as I don't like too much colour on my lips from a gloss. I did find however that as the day wore on and I re applied a couple of times, my lips generally looked pinker and quite healthy considering the rubbish weather that attacks your face on a daily basis.
I was pleased with the effect that the lip gloss gave me so much that I found myself re applying quite often.
The only down side to this is that the product is only 10ml so constant use won't make it last long. Whilst this is fine for 99p, I'm not sure I would like to spend the usual price and go through vast amount of the gloss.
I can't say my lips felt amazingly smoother, and I did realise I still needed to apply lip balm to prevent that cracked and dry feeling in the mornings, but by using this gloss, I didn't see the need for extra lip balm during the day, it just needed a kick start. Perhaps this gloss on its own isn't as good as Avon claim for preventing sore lips however.
There isn't too much flavour to this gloss and it's certainly not marketed as having a fruity flavour. The product contains jojoba oil and I think because of this there is a hint of fruity flavour attached to the gloss, but nothing too major, and I certainly can't taste anything if I get t in my mouth.
Overall I will definitely buy this again even if it's not on offer, but I will have to tame my usage down a bit. I know with Avon however if I wait long enough it'll pop back up on offer sooner or later saving me some pennies.
Avon Care are a range of everyday basic beauty products to help care for your skin. The Glycerine Hand Cream is the most popular of these that I personally sell on my Avon rounds and the next most popular is this Sheer Lip Gloss with Jojoba Oil.
It costs £2.50 for a 10ml tube which I think is an excellent price for this product and it is often even cheaper during an offer such as the three for £5 offer in brochure 18. I use this regularly when I am not wearing makeup and at night time in the winter too so I always buy three tubes whenever the three for five pound offer comes.
This lip gloss is like a glamorous version of Vaseline in my opinion. It is thoroughly conditioning and very easy to use but at the same time it makes my lips look attractive with a subtle sheer pale pink tint to them. The jojoba oil is especially important as it gives my lips not only a great dose of conditioner but also a faint, pleasant scent.
If you are in the market for a new lip gloss to keep your lips soft but sexy this winter then I highly recommend trying this product. The squeezy plastic tube makes this really easy to apply, the product is extremely effective and the price could not be much fairer.
I am forever purchasing lip glosses and there are plenty that i have bought but not even used yet. I recently bought Avon Sheer Lip Gloss with Jojoba oil, it normally retails at £2.50, which is very good i thought. But i bought it when it was offer for £1.25, so i was happy to get a bargain and purchased three.
This product comes in a 10ml tube. It is a bubblegum pink colour with the Avon Care logo on the front. The lid is a blue screw top lid and is at the bottom of the tube, for me this is good as the last of the product will be a lot easier to get out of the tube as its already at the opening of the tube. It comes in a box the same colour as the tube itself.
When you open the tube you are greeted with a really lovely smell of Jojoba.
To apply the lipgloss the end of the tube is at a slant and has a little hole in it. You need to squeeze the tube gently and move it back and for over your lips until you are happy with the coverage of lip gloss. This is an excellent way to apply it as you are able to control how much you put on.
When it is first on your lips they do look very glossy but it doesn't take long for that glossiness to disappear, i found that within minutes my lips no longer look so glossy. However the product stays on your lips and feels more like a lip balm. It is a clear gloss but there is a very slight hint of pink in there although not enough to make you look like you have lipstick on.
It feels very moisturising on the lips, keeping them soft and kissable. It is a very thick gloss but not sticky at all. It is not at all messy to apply and as it is so thick it doesn't run out of the tube.
This is not something that i would recommend as part of your full face makeup unless you prefer subtle lips. It is something that i use everyday to keep my lips looking healthy and i would recommend it as it does moisturise the lips very well. If you prefer your lips to stay glossy i would say give this one a miss otherwise give it a go.
Lip gloss with a hint of pink! Say good-bye to chapped lips /
