Advantages: makes me look healthy
Disadvantages: I use too much of it
I can never resist a bargain, so when I spied this lip gloss in the Avon catalogue for the wonderful price of 99p instead of £3, I snatched it up.
I have had a very on and off relationship with lip glosses, as if they are too sticky and thick or full of flavour then I don't get on with them very well and I end up discarding them to the back of my drawers to be thrown away months later.
I knew this gloss was going to be in the squeezy tube variety rather than a roll on, or a pot. To be honest the tube version is usually what I prefer as I find you get a better coverage on your lips.
The lip gloss is designed in a contrasting pink and blue colouring, which actually works well. It does actually give your lips a hint of pink so the packaging is designed well with this in mind.
Avon claim the product will help chapped lips as well as making your lips shine and feel good.
I like the way the lip applicator is slated to make application easier, however I found with this lip gloss that small traces of the excess would hover around the edges of the applicator. This was fine if you remembered to apply the excess at the same time, but it's not nice to go back a couple of hours later when you want some more to find "old" product waiting for you.
The gloss itself is a nice shade of pink and this doesn't appear to transfer to your lips when you first apply. It looks like a sheer gloss instead which is nice as I don't like too much colour on my lips from a gloss. I did find however that as the day wore on and I re applied a couple of times, my lips generally looked pinker and quite healthy considering the rubbish weather that attacks your face on a daily basis.
I was pleased with the effect that the lip gloss gave me so much that I found myself re applying quite often.
The only down side to this is that the product is only 10ml so constant use won't make it last long. Whilst this is fine for 99p, I'm not sure I would like to spend the usual price and go through vast amount of the gloss.
I can't say my lips felt amazingly smoother, and I did realise I still needed to apply lip balm to prevent that cracked and dry feeling in the mornings, but by using this gloss, I didn't see the need for extra lip balm during the day, it just needed a kick start. Perhaps this gloss on its own isn't as good as Avon claim for preventing sore lips however.
There isn't too much flavour to this gloss and it's certainly not marketed as having a fruity flavour. The product contains jojoba oil and I think because of this there is a hint of fruity flavour attached to the gloss, but nothing too major, and I certainly can't taste anything if I get t in my mouth.
Overall I will definitely buy this again even if it's not on offer, but I will have to tame my usage down a bit. I know with Avon however if I wait long enough it'll pop back up on offer sooner or later saving me some pennies.
Summary: a great lip gloss to have
