Avon used to be affordable for the every day average working mum but these days its not. This eye shadow was not worth the price as it went into the creases of my eyes then faded and rubbed off after a few minutes.
Although this might not be the best reason for buying this product, I will admit the main reason I bought this was because the shape of the bottle here was really cool. It looked a bit like a tear drop and that is different and so I bought one, yes I buy impulse buys for stupid reasons.
I bought the 'Look at me' shade which was a tan brown colour and I use a lot of brown eye shadow. I am a bit torn when it comes to cream shadows because they can either be very good or awful. Thankfully I paid just over £1 for this on offer so it didn't matter how terrible it was really. The colour itself is a lovely creamy light brown, the applicator is a squeezy bottle that has a brush end to it, you squeeze the tube and a little comes out between the bristles then you apply. To start with the brush was far too hard for my liking. I found it really stubbly and it hurt my eye lid trying to brush it. I ended up squeezing it onto another brush and using that. It also had problems with covering while using a brush; it ended up patchy and not even. Blending with my finger was the only way to get a neat finish to it.
It took quite a while to dry which became annoying as well. Once dry I had the usual issue of trying to apply eyeliner, unless it was liquid eyeliner, it just kept rubbing off. The shadow itself was very creamy and a nice consistency, and once I had worked out how to apply it evenly, looked really good. Whether I would buy this again...I wouldn't hold my breath, it's nice but the issue trying to apply it are not really worth it, not when to keep the bright colour you have to re-apply it. On a night out it is too much like hard work, you don't want to have to take your make up kit out with you.
I bought this squeezy eyeshadow because it was on offer and it looked fun to use.
The eyeshadow comes in an 8ml squeezy tube. The colour of mine was a medium blue colour with a touch of sparkle. The eyeshadow is released from the tube by you squeezing it. Once you squeeze the tube the eyeshadow is released, entering the small brush at the front of the tube.
The eyeshadow is easy to use. Once it has entered the applicator you simply apply it to your eyelids. It goes on like a cream and it dries to a powder like finish. For a longer lasting result you can apply a primer to your eyelids before use.
Unfortunately the colour only lasts for around an hour before it starts to crease. It lasts for around half an hour during warmer days when eyeshadow is more prone to creasing. Within a couple of hours there's hardly any trace of the eyeshadow left! I wouldn't like to carry this around with me and having to top it up every hour as the tube leaks and I don't want cream eyeshadow leaking at the bottom of my handbag...
It takes a few minutes to dry and during that time my eyelids start to tighten and it starts to feel a little uncomfortable.
This is just a cheap eyeshadow and I wouldn't recommend it.
So if I had written this review a week ago it would have been a 5 star rating but since purchasing a second shade my opinion has changed slightly.
Avon's eye-catching eye shadow is a cream eye shadow that is available in 3 shades from either your Avon rep or online. You can choose from:
* WOW a blue colour
* FLIRTY which is a green
* LOOK AT ME a pale brown/sandy colour
The product comes in an 8ml squeezy tube (although it says 7ml on the Avon website) and is packaged in a blue and black cardboard box. There is a brush attached to the end. When the tube is squeezed the product is pushed through the brush and ready for application sounds simple and to be honest it is.
Originally these were priced at £3.25 but were in the recent sale flyer at just £1.50 hence my second purchase and loss of star.
I first bought the Look at me shade I love nice browns and golds and this seemed like a great addition to my make up bag. I bought it in an offer for something like 3 colortrend items for £5 a few months back. To me it looked like a quick and easy way to apply eye shadow and in a colour I liked. I wasn't disappointed, on opening the packet I was extremely pleased with the colour it was just as I had imagined.
The application is as easy as first thought a squeeze of the tube and then paint it on. I would state here to squeeze gently and in small bursts.
It has that typical cold feeling when being applied to the eyelid and takes anything from 20 seconds to dry depending on the thickness of the coat. Once dry I have found it has great staying power lasting all day or for a whole evening out before it starts to gather in the creases of your eyelids.
Where this product lost a star was on my second purchase which was the Flirty green. In the brochure it looked a little darker than it actually is and I find I need more coats to get the look I like, and it begins to get a little tedious.
*~*~*HINTS AND TIPS*~*~*
Ok so here are a few little facts I have put together from playing with the product:
* Be gentle as once you have released the eye shadow from the tube that's it, its bid for freedom is complete and it isn't going back in the tube.
* Let it dry...for the best looks it needs to be dry before you go off batting your eyelashes.
* Apply in coats. The colour does change slightly with the amount of coats applied (especially the green) personally I like two layers of the look at me shade that gives me complete coverage and a fresh look.
* Get used to it. Like other cream eye shadows it can feel a little heavy when you first use it
I really like my first purchase it looks great day or night and can have a powder eye shadow applied over the top to change the colour slightly or add definition to different parts of the eye. I have found this to be one of the better cream eye shadows when it comes to drying. It's really easy to apply and gives a great look in no time at all.
As I have said I wasn't impressed with the Flirty shade hence only 4 stars and I am not really a blue person but I would deffinatly recommend the "Look at me!" shade. It's a great product at a reasonable price.
