“ Brand: Avon / Type: Mascara / Suitable for: Eye „
I was going to a glitter party, I had my outfit sorted just needed make up, nail varnish and glitter spray for my hair. Looking through Avon I found this mascara and being £3 it was a good price. It is from the colour trend range which I have bought from before. This range is endorsed by Atomic Kitten, which isn't such a good thing.
It is a clear tube with a screw on top which holds the brush. The brush itself is quite large which helps with the application of the mascara, when you remove the brush you can see large flakes of glitter on the brush and in the tube. This was the main reason for purchasing this; the amount of glitter in the tube was quite substantial so the coverage looked like it would be good. I was disappointed by the actual transfer of glitter, the clear gloop transferred onto my eyelashes well, although because it was quite glue like, it did clump the eyelashes together a lot. I had to use my eyelash brush to separate my lashes which seemed a bit of a waste of effort. The glitter was also a bit of a waste, although there is a lot in the tube, it doesn't stick to your lashes very well. Although you do get some, it tends to fall off quite quickly. I ended up using actual glitter and normal black mascara.
I wouldn't buy this again, although it was cheap, as mascara I didn't like it, clear is fine but it was a bit thick and sticky for my liking, the glitter was useless. A pointless product overall.
I don't really like mascara. I can never find the perfect one. I want one that lasts all day, without clumping, and that makes my lashes look nice, without looking reeeeeeally false. I've not yet found my perfect mascara, but I've come close. At the moment I'm using a purple one from Boots, and that's quite good, but as it's nearly running out, I thought I'd look out for another one. So...as I already have the usual colours like black, brown and purple, I thought I'd go for a different one this time. That's when I came across a glitter mascara in the Avon Catalogue. I thought it looked a bit different, and I'd not used a glitter one before, so I gave it a go. * COLOR TREND * The mascara was from the Color Trend range in the Avon catalogue. Colour Trend is a range of make up products, made by Avon, that are aimed at younger people. That doesn't mean people who aren't young can't use it, but I just think the products are designed more for teenagers, as they are advertised by Atomic Kitten, which might appeal more to teenagers. The packaging of the Colour Trend products is generally bright and eyecatching and products are available for lips, eyes, face and nails, but there is also gifts you can buy. The prices of these products range from £2.50 for a concealer, nail varnish, lip liner or eyeliner to £10 for a party bag containing a range of Colour Trend products. * PACKAGING * This mascara comes in an outer box, which is red in colour with navy blue writing. The box is made of cardboard and is about 10 cm long. On the box is the ingredients of the mascara and the contact adress. Inside the box is the actual mascara. It's in a 7ml clear plastic tube, with a clear, screw on lid. On the front of the tube is the words 'Colour Trend Glitter Girl' and nothing else. As the tube is clear, you can see the mascara through it. It looks clear,
but with lots of little pieces of multi-coloured glitter in it. Overall, the packaging is quite simple, it has no instructions of how to use it (most people know already, but still...) and it doesn't have important information like whether it is suitable for sensitive eyes or not. * THE MASCARA * The mascara sounded good from the way the Avon website described it: 'Our clear gel mascara adds silky sheen and shimmer - 'diamond dust' for your lashes.' The mascara itself is clear, but you can see the little pieces of glitter in it. It doesn't smell too good, it smells of glue, which isn't too pleasant, but it doesn't really matter, because it's mascara afterall. The mascara brush has an oval shape to it and is quite fat. So, everyone knows how to put mascara now, yeah? Well, the packaging doesn't tell you how to, so you'd better! So, you pull the brush out of the tube, and you can see little pieces of glitter on the brush. It looks promising. When you apply the mascara, by brushing it over your lashes, it gives a glossy look to them and they appear slighty darker than usual. From the amount of glitter on the brush, you'd think it would leave your lashes covered in glitter. But it doesn't. There are only a few pieces of glitter which stick to your lashes. I would say that you should only apply one coat of this mascara, as any more makes your lashes clump and stick together, which is not a very good look. The slight glittery look only lasts a few hours, then the glitter pieces seem to disappear. The clear, glossy look lasts all day and provides a simple look, which can be worn with any colour eyeshadow or on its own for a more natural look. * REMOVING * This mascara will come off easily with a usual eye make-up remover, I use Baby Lotion, and it removes straight away, with
a fe w wipes. You don't get left with glitter all over your face, so that's another plus! * BUYING * Avon cannot be bought in shops, yet there are a number of ways which you can purchase these products. These are: * ONLINE - You can pay by credit card if you shop online at Avon's website, which you can find at http://www.avonshop.co.uk/ * BY PHONE - If you have a Avon catalogue, you can choose which goods you want, then phone up and order them. * BY POST - You can order an Avon catalogue from the address at the bottom of this op. * BY YOUR AVON REPRESENTATIVE - Who deliver catalogues to your door and pick up your order a few days later. You can request a representative at the Avon website. * OVERALL * Overall, this mascara is good for a simple looking clear mascara. If this is what you are looking for, then I would recommend this mascara to you. I wouldn't reccomend this to you if you are looking for a very glittery mascara to wear to a party, because you will be disappointed at the lack of glitter that this mascara gives as it won't give a noticable difference to your eye make up. When one coat of this is applied, it gives a nice, even, natural look, which lasts all day and is easy to remove. Again, I wouldn't advise you to apply any more than one coat, this will spoil the overall natural look. I didn't notice whether it was waterproof or not, as it was clear, I wouldn't notice it running down my face anyway. I would say that overall, I was disappointed in this product, as it didn't give the glittery look I was expecting, but it did give a nice natural look that I can still wear everyday, so I haven't wasted my money at all really. It didn't really make my lashes any curlier, but it did make them look nice and slightly longer. Recommended to you if you want a clear mas
cara, but don't expect much glitter. You can buy this mascara for £3.00, but you can occasionally buy it at a cheaper price as Color Trend products are sometimes sold at special prices, or in special deals. You can order a catalogue and order form from: Avon Direct Avon Cosmetics Ltd. Earlstrees Road, Corby NN17 4AZ The Avon website is: www.avon.uk.com * If you are looking for a glitter mascara or you have been dissapointed with this one, I would recommend Rimmel Crystal Tip Mascara to you (I've already written an opinion on it ;-) . This one is slightly more expensive, but it does give a good glitterly look to your lashes, so I'd say it's definitely worth a try if you find this Avon mascara has less glitter in than you wanted *
