Advantages: Works OK as a cream blush
Disadvantages: Colours not represented well, very drying on the lips
Up until recently, I only had one lipstick in my make-up collection. I decided I would like a bit more variety and I was sick of wearing the same colour every day, so I started to keep an eye out for a new cheap lipstick. I came across the Color Trend Kiss n Go Lipstick and decided to give it a try.
Like all Avon products, the lipstick is available from the Avon catalogue through an Avon representative or from the Avon online site. It costs £3.25 although Color Trend products are currently all on offer as part of a '3 for £5' deal which makes them much cheaper. I actually got my lipstick for £1 in a post Christmas sale.
The lipstick is available in eight shades, which range from the very light pink 'Iced Champink', to deep shades of mauve and plum such as 'Amethyst' and 'Vino Disco', to brown colours like 'Café au Lait'. I chose to order 'Pink Sunrise' which looks like a lovely baby pink colour from the swatch on the website. However when I received it I found it was more of a pale peach colour, so I wouldn't put too much trust in the colours in the catalogue or online shop.
Avon describe this lipstick as having 'fantastic stay-true colour', and being 'rich, creamy and moisturising'. The lipstick comes in a cardboard box and when you take it out you see it is quite small, definitely smaller than most lipsticks you buy at the shops and more like a lip balm or chap stick in size. It has a cheap looking black plastic base with a clear plastic cover over the top, and the small Color Trend symbol on the side. It is certainly not much to look at!
When I apply the lipstick to my lips I find that unlike my old lipstick, it immediately highlights any bits of my lips that are slightly dry or not buffed and exfoliated to perfection. So if you do have chapped lips this is definitely one to avoid. The colour looks quite nice on my lips and doesn't wear off too quickly if I set it with gloss, but I find that after a while it starts to feel drying on my lips and after wearing it for a few hours my lips are in worse condition than they started out in, and look much drier. This is a shame and means that I no longer use it as a lip stick because it just makes my lips feel and look dried out.
I do find though that it can be used reasonably well as a cream style blusher! I dab a bit on the apples of my cheeks and blend it in, and it sinks in nicely and gives me a nice peachy flush. So my money hasn't been totally wasted on this purchase. I won't be buying it again though.
Summary: Too drying
