“ Brand: Avon / Type: Eyeliners / Suitable for: Eye „
I bought this product for a decade themed fancy dress my costume was based on the 70's disco era, so obviously I needed all the bright make up I could get to pull it off. I found this product in the Avon calatlogue's sale booklet, where I find most of the products I buy from the company. The eyeliner was priced at just £1, I couldn't get make-up any cheaper anywhere else so I thought you couldn't lose at that price. I went ahead and ordered the product in gold and a couple other colours in case I had a last minute costume change.
DESIGN AND EASE OF USE
The design of the product is quite average and common for the type of product that it is, a conical lid on the wad to enable a better fit in the hand when applying and a small tub containing the product, very simple and effective. The brush is very smooth and the hairs don't stick out and create separate lines to the stroke you're trying to create. The only problem I found was that very little of the eye liner was actually coming out with the brush and I had to constantly dip the wand in again to be able to finish one line.
DOES IT WORK?
I have had some bad experiences with other Avon liquid eye liners, however I can happily say this one was a little more pleasant. The product doesn't fail to live up to it's name and really does shine brightly when you're put under lights, there is also a slight sense of glitter in the eye liner, which I can only see when it's under strong lights but to be perfectly honest the gold on itself is bold enough! I had to re-apply some of the lines I made with this liner because it took forever to dry on top of other products and kept getting smudged! However once it was set, it was set for a good number of hours and lasted the whole party which was around 4 hours.
-The product is fairly small and easy to transport around.
-The wand to apply the eye liner is thin, easy to do detailing.
-Lasts up to about 4 hours once fully dried.
-Sometimes hard to get a lot of eye liner out and you find yourself double dipping for one line.
-Can take up to 20 minutes to dry! It doesn't like being layered up on top of other products.
Personally I'd only where this colour to fancy dress because its so bright, however different people have different tastes. I'd definitely recommend the product range if you can get it at the price I did because it does work okay and lasts longer than some of the other cosmetic brands which you pay more for.
I bought Avon's Colour Trend Eyeliner Brights (in 'Plum') during my liquid eyeliner phase, where I needed all my eyeliners to be dark and heavy - hence using Avon's cheaper brand (when I bought it priced at £1.50).
The eyeliner comes in a clear plastic bottle with a ridiculously long lid of clear blue coloured plastic. As the bottle is transparent you can easily see the colour and quantity of the eyeliner, which I have found to be very useful as it gets near to the bottom. On the front in black hard-to-read writing is the Colour Trend logo, and on the back the shelf life (12 months) but no sign of the ingredients list - which seems to be a trend in Avon, to leave the ingredients on the packaging you're most likely to throw away, the box your product came in!
The eyeliner is applied using the felt brush which is attached to the lid (the part that sits in the bottle), and slides on easily. The brush is sufficiently chiselled to give a fine point, or using the side of it, a wide line. The eyeliner itself is very cold when it goes on, and very, very dark. I cannot stress how brilliant the darkness and colour of this eyeliner is - if you are struggling with your eyeliner showing up then this is the liner for you! The purple is quite deep but vivid, and is slightly metallic so it will shine when in bright lights, an added bonus. It does takes a while to dry though, so best not to use it if you are rushing to get ready, and it smudges an awful lot while its still wet. However, once dry it lasts very well, even resisting water when you come to wash it off! I would say you can get two days worth of wear out of this one, but it will need retouching. Also, it stings terribly if it leaks into your eye while wet, and can be a real irritation (the reason I don't use liquid liner as often these days), leaving your eyes red and bloodshot - not a good look for going out.
Overall though, for the price, the colour (there used to be a few to choose from: Gold, Silver, Green and Purple) and the wear you can get out of this eyeliner, I would say it's a good one for an experienced user to apply every day (as long as your eyes aren't irritated by liquid liners anyway), and is excellent for a dramatic look when you've got the time to get ready for going out.
Color Trend is Avon's cheap and cheerful range. They cover a range of basic items and are available at bargain prices, these eyeliners are a purse-friendly £1.99. The colours are quite vibrant and bright, and appeal to younger customers, but are also great for colourful summer looks, and are an easy way to stock up on on-trend shades.
The eye liner is a liquid one and comes in a small conical plastic tube. The lid is long and tapered and doubles as the handle for the applicator. Inside, there is a brush which has short thick fibres and tapers to a point. I love this type of brush applicator as it is easy to hold steady and you get a nice thick line without having to spread it out. You get a nice even finish and the brush provides good coverage.
This one is part of the Brights range and I have it in an acid green shade called Limeade. It's a slightly yellow toned green and is very attention seeking. The eyeliner goes on smoothly without clumping and it is quite runny so you can spread it gently without having to scrape the brush over your eyelid. It flows evenly and I can manage to get a good line straight away each time that I've used it. The only bad thing that I've noticed is that to get the fully dense bright colour as it appears in the bottle I have to apply the liner and let it dry, and then layer a second coat of liner over the top. This really packs in the colour and makes it stand out more.
The liner lasts incredibly well, I often wear it in the day to perk up my usual natural look, and it makes you stand out and look different. Green is a flattering colour on me as I have brown eyes and red-toned hair. After applying the two coats it lasts all day without budging and there have never been any problems with smudging or running. On the odd occasion where I've been naughty and not bothered to remove my make-up before heading to bed, it's stayed on and in place right through the night!
I'd definitely recommend this product, it's extremely good value and gives great results. They're perfect for nights out and when you want to make a statement.
I absolutely adore this product! It goes on light and effortlessly, with a little brush that allows you to do heavy strokes, and nice little flicks. It has a really striking colour and made my brown eyes pop and stand out even more. I found that it lasted all day long, until I chose to remove it. The liner came off relatively easily with a decent eye make up remover. Although I did find that I needed two applications in order to fully remove it, and there were times when I still had traces on in the morning.
It is well priced and really good value for money. I have had my little tube for around 2 months, I use it most days and it is still going! I tend to use this product for both day and night time looks, because it is that versatile. I tend to wear glasses and well as contact lenses, and people still comment on the colour when I am wearing my specs.
This is a dead cert on my re-order list!
When it comes to my cosmetic purchases at almost 35 years old I'm pretty conventional and stick to big brands that I know and trust. However I do like the odd product to 'vamp' up my look for when I'm going out and when I'm doing that I just use one 'party' type of product so I don't appear as mutton dressed as lamb! lol.
The product itself comes in a dark and turquoise blue coloured oblong box and on the front I'm told it is Colortrend and there are little coloured spots on there. On the end of the box (where you flip it open to get the product out of) the colour is stated (in my case I chose Berry delight) and on the back of the box I'm given contact details for Avon and the recycle symbol is shown, and I'm told what it is in many different languages. The tube itself to the bottom is a sort of triangle in shape, see-through plastic and on that I'm simply told it's Colortrend and to the top of that there is a very long turquoise cap/lid which twists on/off and that contains a black 'wand' and to the end of that a small, firm black brush is situated.
How you use this is up to you as ever! Apply it to eyes on it's own or over eye-shadows etc. I am surprised how easy this is to use!
Now normally when it comes to liquid eyeliners (which this) I tend to need to use a kohl pencil to faintly draw a line as a guide and then cover it using a liquid eyeliner...but not with this, this is seriously child's play!
The brush is firm, the consistency of the colour is great, being wet but not drippy or anything like that. It doesn't have a smell to it at all and all you do is line the eyes with it. As I said it is really, really easy. If you make a mistake it's easy to correct (not that I ever have thinking about it!) and it dries within about a minute. Once on it looks glossy and bright and stays put with no transfer and feeling comfortable and light until you remove it, which is easy peasy to do with your usual make-up removing routine!
Available in Limeade (a bright green colour), Cocoa Crush (a bronze colour) and mine which is Berry Delight (a lilac colour) and all priced at £3.25, these are fabulous and a way to really funk up a look with ease. They are great because they are easy to apply, the results looks really excellent and what is more they are none agitating and easy to remove ta boot! I'm a fan though my one and only complaint is the packaging and in particular the tube. There is a lot of tube for a small amount of colour and it does appear cheap which is a bit off putting for us older buyers! Other than that recommended from me!
Only available from Avon.
Color Trend Liquid Eyeliner Brights from Avon are one of my favourite new releases this Christmas. I snapped one up as soon as they were released because of the very low price. I was not overly bothered if I did not like the product because I paid so little for it. Currently it is £3 for one or three for £5 in brochure 18. I recommend buying this soon if you are interested as it is likely to be a seasonal product that disappears in the Spring.
What really impressed me with this is that it has an ultra fine felt tip end to it. It means that application is almost fool proof! There is no move to the brush at all which means I can apply this perfectly every time.
The colours this is available in are Electric Blue, Sparkling Black, Gold Flash and Plum Craze. My favourite is the Gold Flash which is absolutely perfect for adding a touch of glammer to Christmas party make-up.
These eyeliners come in quite a small bottle that will probably only last for around thirty applications at most. The lid is much taller than it needs to be which annoys me a little as if it were smaller this would slip into my handbag a lot easier. The actual product is five stars but I have taken a star off for the silly packaging.
