Advantages: Quick drying
Disadvantages: Colour is see through, small and cheap-looking bottle, peels off almost immediately
I bought some of this Color Trend nail varnish when it was on sale in one of the previous Avon catalogues for £1.50. That seemed like a reasonable price to pay to try a new nail varnish. Normally these sell for £2.75 each, although the Color Trend range frequently has offers on.
The nail varnish is available in just six shades: two pink, two mauve, one coffee-coloured one and one peach. I bought one of the pinkish ones, called Iced Champink.
The nail varnish comes in a see through glass bottle with a black lid. It is packaged in a small black and white cardboard box. Both the box and the bottle have the Color Trend logo on. I think the bottle looks quite cheap, especially the lid, and it's also worth saying that it's a very small bottle containing just 8 ml of nail varnish.
The varnish is reasonably easy to apply to nails with the built in brush. However once it is applied it is very see through and doesn't have a great deal of colour to it. I built up three coats of it and even then it wasn't opaque and you could still see the variations in my natural nail colour underneath. I found this disappointing as with three shades of a high quality nail polish you would generally not still be able to see through it. It did have quite a nice shine to it when applied though.
I found the nail varnish dried really quickly which is a big plus point. It was touch dry within a couple of minutes and didn't clog when I added further coats. Some nail polishes take hours to dry but I was able to wash my hands soon after applying this and it was fine.
The Avon website promises that this nail varnish is 'long lasting and chip resistant'. However this is where the varnish really falls down. Just a few hours after putting it on I looked down and realised that there were huge chunks of it missing. And all I had been doing was watching TV and writing Dooyoo reviews! The massive chips ruined the varnish and the rest of it began to peel off too.
This is the first Avon product that I will probably end up sending back, because there is no point in keeping a nail varnish that will chip with hardly any pressure within a few hours.
Summary: Useless
